Lights in the Sky
C.U.T Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The shackles are undone
The bullets quit the gun
The heat that's in the sun
Will keep us when there's none

The rule has been disproved
The stone - it has been moved
The grave is now a groove
All debts are removed, oh

Oh, can't you see what love has done?
Oh, can't you see what love has done?
Oh, can't you see what love has done?
What it's done to me?

Love makes strange enemies
Makes love where love may please
The soul and its striptease
Hate brought to its knees

The sky over our head
We can reach it from our bed
You let me in your heart
And out of my head, head

Oh, can't you see what love has done?
Oh, can't you see what love has done?
Oh, can't you see what love has done?
What it's done to me?

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Please don't ever let me out of you

I've got no shame
Oh no, oh no

Oh, can't you see what love has done?
Oh, can't you see?
Oh, can't you see what love has done?
What it's doing to me?

(I know I hurt you, and I made you cry
Did everything but murder, but you and I
But love left a window in the skies
And to love I rhapsodize
To every broken heart
For every heart that cries

Love left a window in the skies
And to love I rhapsodize)

Overall Meaning

In "Lights in The Sky", C.U.T talks about the transformative power of love. The song opens with the image of someone breaking free from their chains and the bullets no longer being a threat, which can be interpreted as breaking free from past traumas and being able to face the future with newfound confidence. The lyrics then shift towards talk of the resurrection, with the stone being moved and the grave becoming a groove. This can be interpreted as an allusion to Jesus' resurrection and the power of love to bring things back to life. The idea that all debts are removed serves as a metaphor for the power of love to forgive and bring forth new beginnings.

The chorus is a plea to recognize the beauty of love and the impact it has had. The lyrics, "can't you see what love has done? What it's done to me?" reflect the idea that love has the ability to transform and shape us. The verse that follows talks about the strange power of love to bring enemies together and create something new. The idea of a soul's striptease can be interpreted as an unveiling of one's authentic self, which is made possible by the power of love.

The bridge of the song talks about the sky being a limitless possibility and the idea that, with the power of love, one can achieve anything. The lyrics, "please, don't ever let me out of you, I've got no shame," reflect the idea that being vulnerable and open to love is empowering. The song ends with another chorus, emphasizing the transformative impact of love.

I just saw this at around 7:45 pm on Sunday September 25th in Fultonville ny.

OK it's actually an IFO.

Yesterday I saw a reverse conical light from what almost looked like a bright satellite or shooting star without the normal burnout flash at the end, and it just seemed to glance the atmosphere.
Now I'm thinking it could have been a 🚀 rocket.
