After releasing a number of singles in 2016, including "Lo Hace Conmigo", "Los Chikos de Madriz" and "Antes de Morirme", Tangana attained mainstream success in Spain with the release of "Mala Mujer", later included in his debut studio album Ídolo (2017). He continued to explore urbano and hip hop music on his mixtape Avida Dollars (2018), which spawned the top twenty single "Llorando en la Limo". Tangana continued to release standalone singles to commercial success such as "Bien Duro", "Booty" and "Nunca Estoy". He experimented with flamenco and Latin music on his second studio album El Madrileño (2021), which was nominated for the Premio Ruido and received a Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year. El Madrileño became the best-selling album in Spain in 2021.
Throughout his career, C. Tangana has won nine Latin Grammy Awards as songwriter and as performer, two Premios Odeón and a LOS40 Music Award among others. He has also been nominated for a Grammy Award, two MTV Europe Music Awards and two UK Music Video Awards.
Tangana's outspoken political views have received significant media coverage. Considered a controversial musical figure within the Spanish industry, he has been accused of proliferating sexist conducts through his lyrics. He has also been accused of being a "sellout" by colleague rappers. His pesimistic view on representative democracy, the monarchy and the Spanish royal family and his high-profile relationship with Rosalía, have also been topics of media attention.

De escuchar su risa loca
Y sentir junto a mi boca
Como un fuego su respiración
Angustia
De sentirme abandonado
Y pensar que otro a su lado
(En vano)
Yo no quiero rebajarme
Ni pedirme ni rogarle
Ni decirle que no puedo más vivir
(En vano)
Esta mujer va a matarme
Se ha propuesto en humillarme
Es feliz con mi sufrir
¿Cuándo olvidaré
Las noches que me has querío?
¿Cuándo olvidaré
Las noches que me has querío?
Pasan los días (mami)
El otoño, el invierno y la primavera
Llega el verano
Vida mía, y no te tengo a mi vera
Pasan los días
El otoño, el invierno y la primavera
Llega el verano
Vida mía, y no te tengo a mi vera
Y pasan los días
El otoño, el invierno y la primavera
Llega el verano
Vida mía, y no te tengo a mi vera
Y pasan los días
El otoño, el invierno y la primavera
Llega el verano
Vida mía, y no te tengo a mi vera
(Creo que la canción española
Es del pueblo, es racial, es de raza
Y te voy a decir una cosa
Cuando yo he oído cantar en el extranjero
He corrido el mundo, yo he corrido el mundo cantando
No todo porque sería mucho, pero bastante
He llorao oyendo cantar a cualquier artista español
Vida mía, y no te tengo a mi vera
(Pasan los días)
El otoño, el invierno y la primavera
Llega el verano
Vida mía, y no te tengo a mi vera
The song Cuándo Olvidaré by C. Tangana y Pepe Blanco is about the pain of a lost love and the struggle to move on. The lyrics express the feeling of nostalgia in hearing the person's laugh and feeling their warmth, while also feeling the anguish of being abandoned and replaced by someone else. The singer refuses to beg or plead with the person to come back, knowing it would be futile, and yet still feels trapped in their love for them. The repeated line "¿Cuándo olvidaré las noches que me has querío?" (When will I forget the nights you loved me?) highlights the singer's struggle to let go of the memories of the relationship and move on.
The song's lyrics are full of emotive language and imagery that highlights the pain and frustration of heartbreak. The use of "nostalgia" and "angustia" emphasize the internal conflict of the singer, while the image of feeling the person's breath like a fire adds to the intensity of the emotion. The repetition of the seasons passing without the person highlights the sense of loss and loneliness, and the final lines reflect the difficulty in moving on.
