The members were Otsuka (vocals), Kona (guitar), Yasui (bass) and Takano (drums). After releasing a 1,000 copy indie album and several unsucessful singles, the group first made it big when their single "Tightrope" was selected as the ending theme song for the Gensoumaden Saiyuki anime series. After that, the group released several full-length and mini-albums, a "best" album, and a DVD collection of promotional videos with commentary.

In 2006, the band signed to Nippon Crown and released mini-albim "心の来た道" and "Gimme a Light 2" (the latter as a tribute to their first mini-album, "Gimme a Light"). In early 2007, they released the album "Everything you know is wrong." Shortly after this release, in July 2007, CHARCOAL FILTER announced their disbandment. The very final mini-album, "素晴らしい日々へ", comprised four songs written by the four members respectively, and two songs written by the whole band.

I bought this for my 80 gallon and we have loved it so far. I did buy a ball valve to slow the flow a bit but otherwise it's been a great pump so far. No leaks at all and it was really easy to set up.

Thanks for a great review! A month ago I picked up a couple of these 525gph to filter a 234 gal inflatable pool. These are definitely beefy and I I like the look. Had a few problems but LKF customer service was amazing and worked with me to solve them. Yup these come from China. In one I used all there free media and added a bag of round ceramic, I emptied the carbon media between two of there white pads and on the other pump I cut out 4 micron polishing filter pads and use it as a clarifier, added the second pump last night. I use them out doors and after you get all the air bled out, took a couple days of random shaking, I can hardly hear them. The first pump I received had the locking tabs broke off on the in/out tubes on the main pump body, they sent me a new pump head and that one pressurized and the cover blew off, completely bending one of the grey side locks at the top, it was also taking on water inside the UV light cover, they told me to stop using it and sent me an entirely new pump minus the free filter media, which I didn't need. So far so good, we'll see how clear it can get a small pool :-) Not having to use Chlorine tablets is huge plus. Still trying to figure out what type of UV light it puts out, is it A, like a black light or C? Thanks again for the extensive and informative review!

Very helpful. HOWEVER, never push a glass bulb from the top unless you want to break it. You have no leverage from the top. Hold it near the bottom on both sides, line it up, and it pushes right into place. :) I run two on a 125-gallon African Cichlid tank.

I was definitely worried about breaking it. I changed the bulb on my other one and it slipped right in.... at first I thought I didn't have this one lined up correctly... it was a tight fit... and, I wasnt sure if I could touch the bulb with my bare fingers (like a car headlight) so, that's what the paper towel was about. I'll try the pushing it in from the base when I assemble the two other ones I bought that are still in the box! Thanks for stopping by the channel and for the helpful comment.

How do you think this would work for a 55g? I know it’s got a lot of gph but I have 2 goldfish so I like overfiltration 😁 is it still running well for you?

Yes, running great. I've actually bought more since this one, for my other tanks. Probably going to be fine for your 55... although pretty big for sure. I just bought a smaller version of this filter for my 40 gallon tank.

the website for polar aurora says they pressure test each canister and that might result in a bit of moisture lingering in the shipped canister ^_^

I’m about to get one of these after the primer stick broke on my fluval 307. Fluval wants to charge 30 dollars in shipping for a 10 dollar part. I’ll pay 10 more and get a new canister filter.

I believe its to kill algae spores. I just ordered this filter and chose the one with a light for that reason. I have fuzzy green stuff growing on my castles and my real plants. I hope the light helps the spread.

It's a loud because all the air has not been evacuated cousin had one opened it up after it ran for a couple days went 10 times quieter after repriming it

Aqua Top, Polar Aurora and
Sun Sun filters are all the same and are all made by Sun Sun. The Aqua Top is assembled in the United States that why you pay a little more.

I think this will be too big for a 20 gal. honestly... a fluval 206 might work better for a smaller tank. It's the canister filter too. Good luck and thanks for visiting the channel.

For the hose connections use hot water to soften the hoses, they will "harden" back up once they cool. I don't think boiling water??? but 150-160f and it will slip on like it's greased. Use the existing filters and a sharpie then cut out other filter media to stock sizes. Someone else mentioned to add more water to get the discharge below the water line. I just got mine today, your video helped a lot and I hope my few tips will help out others. On some models you have to take out 2 screws and retaining ring to get the tube to mount over the light. Why glass??? Should be plexi-glass IMO. Tip the unit from side to side after start up and all the air will be gone and run quiet.

Did the noise from the filter ever go away? I just got this today and mine is making the same noise as yours in the video. Loud humming. Other people with the filter have told me it should be silent and no humming. I'm feeling frustrated!

@Gebo's Garage Thankfully it quieted down a lot overnight, but the hum is still fairly comparable to a HOB filter. It also fits awkwardly on my tank since mine also has a thick rim on the top. I guess it is what it is for the price. I'll give it some thought before I decide on returning it. Thank you for your comments and helpful video!

This may sound odd, but have you tried starting over? I mean, drain it, take apart and then reassemble? I only mention this because based on what you said, it sound more like something may be vibrating inside the filter. For example, the trays and the media. I remember at one time my trays didn't fit right. I had to move them around to get them to "seat" into one another? But now you have me curious. Let me go down and look at the two I am running. I will get back!

Gebo's Garage thanks for replying so fast to me! I don’t have a cabinet for it so I’m still trying to figure out how to get the loud hum down. I did notice that when I tilt the entire canister filter sideways, the noise is reduced. maybe that has something to do with it? :(

Mine hums, but it is less noticeable - or - I may have gotten used to it. I have a few tanks set up in the fish room. A hum you should hear, a loud hum, you should not.

Aweome setup video... Outside filter LOL... I think this (Polar Aurora), SunSun are all the same ones (from the same manufacturer...) :) I suppose... Aquatop has a website and they seem to be legit... Either these ones are just knock offs or just use Aquatop to manufacture them and they re-sell... Anyway, I just ordered it online... Waiting for delivery (fingers crossed)...

I just bought this and got it yesterday. I can't get it to prime, but I am also using it in a tank that is only half filled so not sure if that is the problem, but I have the tubes on just as far as you have yours and no cigar. Getting frustrated with it.

@Gebo's Garage that's reassuring, thanks! Also wish I put some Vaseline or something on the hose before shoving it into the connector. Because now it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove. My only hope is that pointing a hair dryer at it will loosen it up. Otherwise, I'm screwed

I understand. I felt the same way initially. The filter has been up and running for some time now, and (Knock on Wood) no issues. I agree, the clamp is fairly cheap and flimsy. You could consider a metal hose clamp I suppose - just don't over tighten. Good luck with the filter. I think once you get it set up and see how well it works - you'll like it... especially since it is a fraction of the price of other canister filters.

I did have this same problem once with my fluval 406 filter. What I did to get around it was this... I used a power head and connected it to the intake hose of the the filter. I let it pump water into the canister and watched for all the air to escape from the return. Once I knew it I was fully primed, I just plugged it in and it started pumping fine. I know you shouldn't have to do this, but the other option is to return it.

Last week I ordered two more of these filters and they arrived today. I am going to run one on my 110 (I am setting that up next) and the other on my 75 (I getting ready for salt).

I'm really happy with these filters, especially for the money. I'll probably do another video showing these two new ones being installed.

I had to remove the two (rectangular) plastic washer type things from the screw clamp itself. That allowed it to fit over the aquarium rim. It fits securely. However, a better way would be to just cut out a notch in the back plastic rim. I didn't do this, but I still might if I have any problems with the return slipping. So far so good and it's been months.
