MGT has three goals.
1. To make herself a house name especially among Republicans. She is successful because as a congreewoman she automatically has a platform and when she criticisez the workings of congress her words have automatically more weight. She also knows how to "switch on" her followers: Republicans that are active in politics or who can be riled to do things unthinkable to the majority of people, i.e violence or threat of violence.
2. She wants to amass wealth she can use to buy influence among the right people (e.g. military and alt right leaders & influences, and media: the latter is a symbiotic cycle ) To achieve this, she needs to achieve point number 1.
3. Her long term goal is to become the leader of the country, like Putin. For that she needs to achieve her goals 1 and 2 - which are symbiotic:
the more she is known the more media pays attention to her, and the more media is paying attention the more money she gets from advertisers and supporters. And the more she is out there the more people are going to believe she cares about the same issues they care about (that she is also helping them) and the more they will agree with her policies. It doesn't matter that her statements are lies and total BS as long as it appeals to emotions of victimhood I would say it is the most powerful emotion that can be manipulated into anger and hatred filled action, as seen on Jan 6th.
A feeling of being victim when it doesn't match the reality is a mental health problem. It doesn't matter if it is caused by poor self-esteem or propaganda of self-entitlement. This feeling can turn against oneself and result to violence against oneself (self-mutilation, suicide) or violence against others - there is always a twisted logic behind the target of violence. MGT is tapping to that anger and hatred and giving them the target.
(And I guess it is also motive of many mass-shootings, the target arisen from a convoluted logic that has only a faint connection to the initial feeling of being wronged somehow.)
