CORE OF SOUL is a pop/rock group consisting of three members: Nakamura Fuki… Read Full Bio ↴CORE OF SOUL is a pop/rock group consisting of three members: Nakamura Fukiko (中村蕗子), Song Rui (宋睿 / ソンルイ), and Iizuka Keisuke (飯塚啓介).

In 1999, during their final high school year, the group represented the Kansai region in the All Japan Final of the 'Teen Music Festival'. They won the 'Encouragement Award' and were given the chance to record a demo, and have it distrubuted by a major label.

The demo was released February 11, 2001, and had the songs "FULL MOON PRAYER" and "Angel" on it. It sold well enough for them to sign a stronger contract and release more music.

After releasing nine singles, five albums, and one best compilation, the members of CORE OF SOUL decided to disband.
After an Asia-wide tour, the group official ceased on March 24, 2006.

Nakamura Fukiko is currently releasing her solo works under the name "LOVE".

Yea but not all of the match well. But before considering who would fall under the deadly sins you have to consider what is their counter part. For greed it is charity, pride's is humility, sloth's is diligence, lust's is chasity, envy's is kindness, wrath's is patience, and gluttony's is temperance. So 2 out of 7 is already solved. But the issue is that none of the soul colors don't match up with the monster that corresponds with the soul colors. In other words the monsters sins don't match with the attacks they use to a human's soul.

Now, here's what begs the question. Which monster represents the deadly sins?
Sloth= Sans, since he is lazy and has a sense of nihilism
Greed= Muffet, she attacks frisk because they didn't buy anything from the bake sale
Pride=Mettaton, due to egocentric tendencies
Envy= Flowey, since he was desperate to try different things even at the cost others well-being and was willing to kill frisk in order to have that power back.
Lust= Papyrus, he desires for respect from others and was willing to risk someone else's well being in order to get it.
Wrath=Undyne, because of her relentlessness of trying to capture the human
Gluttony= Asgore, he wants obtain 7 souls in order to destroy mankind, but just one soul will provide enough strength to give him god like powers.

ORANGE: Bravery - Wrath
Bravery always moves, trying to look powerful, hence why Doggo killed it.

That's why robots are fearless. They don't feel pain, because they're manmade out of metal and metal doesn't try any hard to stay alive, so robots can reprogram themselves and do whatever they like. But...I don't have a clue why Mecha Sonic and Skell Ezuom try and take over everything. Once they've finished, they can't do anything more. They'll be alone forEVER!!! What's the point?
GREY: Pessimism - Realism
People who are kind of hopeless have given up. Sans actually has Realism, because he knows that the universe will eventually come to an end, either by a cosmocalypse or a reset, and all his hard work will be for nothing. That's why he's lazy. Also, that's probably why he has Patience.
BLACK: Hate - Megalomania?
Hate seems to try to thrive, feed off Determination and become really powerful. If Chara's plan was simply to become the most powerful of all beings, didn't they already have Hate to begin with? Also, removal of Hate would support everyone's controversy of how Chara is kind of innocent. You know, GT makes more and more sense...only in a few ways. The rest of it was kind of miscalculated.
WHITE: Love - Selflessness/Deoxyribonucleic Acid(?)

An interesting consequence of this idea is the possibility of mixing traits of complementary colors (like yellow (justice) and blue (Integrity)). By color logic, this would produce a neutral color (like gray or brown), so how would this work with treats?

Here are all the complementary colors (of the confirmed soul colors):
Blue (Integrity)\ Yellow (Justice);
Green (Kindness)\ Purple/Magenta (Perseverance);
Red (Purpose/Determination)\ Cyan (patients).

While I can see how patience could be the opposite of purpose/determination, I don’t see how kindness and perseverance are opposites, and justice and integrity sound like practical synonyms.

The soul colors play a bigger part in Undertale when you fight boss monsters. Almost every boss turns your soul into a different color and the purpose of that color provides a glimpse to how you interact with them and complete a Pacifist run. spoilers below btw

The first real boss we met is Papyrus, who, turns your soul royal blue. The color of integrity. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; a moral uprightness. When you fight him it's a test of your own integrity. Do you kill this character that has shown you nothing but kindness? or is your heart full of LV? the choice you make when fighting Papyrus will affect the outcome of the entire game. Regardless of your choice; Papyrus will NEVER kill you.

The next boss is Undyne who turns your soul green. The color of Kindness. It's strange at first that the loud and brash Undyne turns your heart to green, but kindness is in fact how you defeat/befriend her. Through an act of kindness you can show her mercy and she in turn becomes your friend.

Then there is Muffet who turns your soul the purple of perseverance. It is the quality of doing something despite the difficulty or delay in achieving success. Muffet is HARD to beat without the spider donut, but with some perseverance you can be spared by her.

Mettaton and Dr. Alphys both are the yellow of justice. This one is strange since 'justice' isn't the first word that comes to mind when meeting Mettaton. But, then I realized it's not justice for you it's justice for them! I don't' think Mettaton realized just how much he was loved by the other monsters. He has the perfect body, the perfect job, but he breaks down when he gets all these calls from fans confessing adoration for him. His diary tells us he abandoned his family to become a star, and he didn't truly realize what he did wrong until that moment. Dr. Alphys is a bit obvious, she's terrified of people finding out the truth about what she did to those other monsters. Through our actions we can get justice for Amalgamates who can now return to their families, and help Alphys confront her fears. After all, Justice isn't just about dishing out punishments to the guilty; it's also about coming to realize what is truly important.

The only color we don't really see is orange. I don't really know why. Orange does make a grand appearance in Asgore's fight but other monsters use orange attacks as well. So I'm not sure?

I do know that If you are a naughty child, and do a Genocide run; you won't see the blue of integrity, light blue of patience, or the yellow of justice until you fight Sans. Which is still a test of your own morality. Sans is a strange character that remembers everything you've ever done in the game, and judges you for it. He knows you know right from wrong, but he also knows you are too determined to stop. So, he used patience to fight you with justice as his cause. Sans will sit there forever if he has to (or until you get good enough to beat him) to keep you from reaching the King. Though, turns out he was right all along, huh?

I used to wonder what happened to light blue and orange because they are the only soul colours we never get to play as, but now I found the answer.

Light blue and orange are the colours of ATTACKS instead.

Light blue attacks: be patient and wait for it to pass.
Orange attacks: be brave and go straight into it.

I know it's confusing that they are referenced as blue attacks by Sans, but I thing it's a prank to confuse the player in Papyrus' Blue Attack.

And btw, I don't think green "attacks" are anything to do with the green soul, but are instead a colour used to represent healing. This also explains why all 6 souls can produce them during Omega Flowey Boss Fight.

You are probably wondering: why are only orange and light blue lucky enough to be an attack colour instead of a playable soul colour?

I think it is to do with the system used to produce colours.
There are 2 main systems used in colour producing: RGB and RYB, standing for red-green-blue and red-yellow-blue. RYB is used when mixing paints and RGB is used to make electronic colours, like the screen you are reading this comment with.
Of the seven soul colours
RGB primary colours:
red green blue
RGB secondary colours:
light blue (blue+green) purple (red+blue) yellow (green+red)
RGB tertiary colours:
orange (yellow+red)

as you can see orange is the only tertiary colour of the seven soul colours.

RYB primary colours:
red yellow blue
RYB secondary colours:
green (blue+yellow) purple (red+blue) orange (yellow+red)
RYB tertiary colours:
light blue (blue+green)

Here light blue is the only tertiary colour.

Because they are tertiary colours, they became attacks instead of playable soul colours

bluish teal attacks are don't move, teal soul is patience. you gotta be patient and wait for the attack to come to you, not get impatient and run straight into it and get it over with.

orange attacks are move, orange soul is bravery. you gotta be brave and move STRAIGHT through. you can't be a coward, move to the corner of the box, and get more scared you're gonna be hit as the orange attack closes in on you, or it'll actually deal damage

maybe yellow attacks can replace stuff like the bullet-broken boxes, the mini mettatons that throw those hearts, and plus-bombs, because those require the yellow soul to interact with, yellow soul is justice and you need to do justice and defend yourself from those attacks

and attacks that are green, normally they are healing, but the darker shade of green, you gotta not hit them with the bullets from the yellow soul, if you do they turn white. you have to be kind to dark-green attacks and not shoot them. now these are some ideas for fangame battles. the healing green is a combination of the dark-green (kindness) and white (magic), it also contains less black (hate in glitchtale), where kindness+hate is they accept kindness being at them, but not giving others kindness themselves, so YOU have to be kind to THEM. the kindness+magic is they don't contain hate, so they are kind to you too, and with the magic part they heal you.

we can add these concepts on top of eachother, for example, (kindness+magic)+patience = if you don't move, it heals you. (kindness+magic)+bravery = if you move, it heals you. justice+(kindness+hate) = no little Jimmy, that contradicts eachother. justice+(kindness+magic) = it heals you if you shoot it for whatever reason? oh it's like it gives you a heal if you prove to it you're worthy of going to war against the yellow attacks.

Fun fact: Toby confirmed the reason that the monster souls are white was for the sake of simplicity. Monsters actually have different soul colors just like humans, but Toby didn’t bother putting in the colors for the sake of preventing confusion and keeping the game simple.

I think that the red soul represents Independence
1. It is shown that in the red soul battling mode, you can freely move to dodge attacks, unlike other souls relying on certain concepts, such as purple relying on three lines

@Xaver I'd imagine that the red trait affects all the other soul types making them a bit more independent than usual so if a perseverance soul used yellow soul mode they would be restricted to the 3 lines but would be able to shoot the pew pew bullet thing or integrity would have gravity ext.

Duality, /d(y)oo’alade/: an instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or aspects of something, a dualism; the quality or condition of being dual. Plus , in order for that to work , the soul has to shatter completly and the host has to have the willpower to not die and keep going , but chara CHOSE to die and let go of life instead of wanting to "continue" and willingly let asriel absorb there soul to execute their plan so that's another reason

With light, if you combine all colors, you get white, not brown. This has interesting implications in terms of monster souls and what they embody, besides just 'magic'. Brown is actually an incredibly dark shade of orange, so maybe it would actually have something to do with bravery? Great video, by the way!

@Jessefan101 Hey I'm kinda late, but the determination of humans in souls other than Frisk's isn't enough to allow them to respawn and save, you see, the determination in most human souls is only enough to allow the human souls to exist after death even if they're not conscious, their soul never dies. However, Frisk has much more determination than any human and that's why they have the power to reset. And that's how Flowey used to be before Frisk came to the underground since the barrier is magic, it basically makes it so that there's two separate realms, and Frisk is only able to reset and save if they are the most determined, people or things with a lot of determination can reset and save, like Flowey, but only if they are the most determined person.
And since the other fallen humans didn't have the red soul of Determination, they could not reset or save, so they died like normal humans, enough determination allows souls to exist after death, but even more determination allows a person to refuse to die.
That's why monster souls disappear after death, they don't have enough determination.

Thought: Red represents determination, but a sepperate kind of determination.

Determination has two meanings: the one we all know which is to keep going and persist.

But then theres the version that means to determine something, and not nessicarily to act on it. Frisks ball game the second time you get the red options says 'Try as you might, you continue to be yourself', as if they've already determined who they are.

Food for thought but in my personal opinion determination as a trait can still apply to the red soul with either meaning used.

Purple: GREED. Associated with Muffet
Yellow: PRIDE. Associated with Mettaton
Green: WRATH. Associated with Undyne

Judging by the colour map, this video discusses all this according to the cmyk color model. Typically cmyk is split into 4 colours (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) and each colour has 100 steps, which makes the number of distinct colours 100,000,000. If red isn't determination, then maybe it is Love. You are told at the end of a neutral run (but didn't kill anyone) that LOVE means level of violence, but that you didn't gain any of it, instead you gained what love would mean in real life. Also, red hearts generally mean love in real life as well, whether for valentines day or anything of the sorts.This applies to Chara in a genocide run because chara gains LOVE as in level of violence, obviously, so I think this is the most logical possibility.

I think that a brown soul would be a 'normal' person, who doesn't really show a lot of just one trait, they just show the right amount of every trait. And a rainbow soul would be someone who outshines at all the traits, and shows an extraordinary amount of each trait. Or maybe a rainbow soul is when you combine different souls with your own.

My theory is that the red soul means an exceptional amount of determination, a lot more than an average human, giving only the red soul the ability to go back intime and change fate, where as other coloured souls have more different traits, giving them different abilities (shooting, jumping, blocking attacks, hopping between lines), but not as much determination as red, which is why the other humasn remain dead and you come back.

Red soul, is the soul of someone driven by determination and will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
That applies to both pacifist and genocide runs of the game.

I dunno if the game goes into it, but it seems to be the accepted norm that Frisk and Chara had an obtuse amount of Determination, unlike everyone else. That could be why their souls are red, is because red is the base color of DT but it only shows if it is the only trait in enormous amount, of an unusually high amount. But that is what seems to be the accepted excuse for the red soul, and there aren't many things that argue for or against that particular theory...just thought I'd share my thoughts on this.

Well, possibly red simply means the person can control time. Red is the color for the aspect of TIME in Homestuck, which was a big inspiration for areas, enemies and music in Undertale as well. It doesn't necessarily have to do with immortality.

That's why Chara died despite having a red SOUL. Frisk's "health bar" however turns red if they get injured. When they die it's completely red and they travel back in time to prevent their death.

Whilst I do think there are other soul colours, I think that they can only mean good things; a bad thing'd be a black soul with an coloured outlying, based on whatever it's the opposite of - for example, a yellow outline'd be oppression. In addition, I think whilst having similar colours may indicate some relationship, it doesn't mean that they're just a mix.

I know I'm not a Patreon, so I probably won't get noticed with this idea, but could you make a discussion/theory video about the possible integration of other video game elements into the game's lore?
We all know that saving and resetting are normally just game mechanics, but in Undertale, they're very much a part of the game's lore. The player/Frisk is actually resetting time in the game's world.
So what about other video game elements like the battle system or the text boxes the characters speak in?
For example, how is Asgore able to smash the MERCY option (or Omega Flowey just destroying the battle screen completely), or how are Mettaton's words able to be bombs if they are simply game features? (Of course, these examples could just be 4th wall breaks, but what if they're not?)
I don't recall any specific information in the game saying that any of the other elements are in the lore like SAVING is, but maybe there are.

Considering the fandom, there probably is already a headcanon/AU that does something with this, but I'm just not bothered to look it up.

I kinda agree with you at this point. Each game might have one thing similar with each other, typically Splatoon only having a 'neutral' or 'genocide' route, how you are trapped in this place underground in Bendy and the Ink Machine and under water in Little nightmares. Red is never said to be the soul of determination, and the word "determination" is only ever associated with the color yellow (examples: Flowey's petals, SAVE points, the color the text turns after a successful file save.) Additionally, determination is referred to in yellow in the True Lab, and the fact that the asterisk before it is also yellow indicates that it isn't for emphasis. If anything, the red soul's trait is much more likely being true to one's self, judging by how the red soul is referred to throughout the game.

But many humans also have justice, integrity, etc. the colors they represent may simply just be the primary quality. This may be why frisk is able to reset. They return to their last point of highest determination.

I would definitely say my soul is comparable to a light violet. The color combination of Purple and Blue, or perseverance and integrity. So like persistence (light violet) would suit me well.

Perhaps the red soul is something along the lines of pride? If you think about it, following your judgements through thick and thin, no matter how tough it gets, certainly sounds like the actions of a prideful person.
Purpose also works here, though, so maybe pride is a dark color in the integrity or bravery spectrum.

I personally think that Chara is NOT a genocidal maniac, but instead, acts as a form of justice, think about it, they make sure that after the genocide route, they make sure you can never have a happy ending, and they state that they were a lingering presence, a.k.a NOT who you play as in the genocide route, they make it very clear that YOU were the one who did it. It also explains why they take away your ability to choose, as they say "You made your choice a long time ago" before they kill you.

The red souls trait is determination the more prominite trist the human posses determines the colour of there soul if a humans soul is green it’s main triat is kindness but it still has small amounts of the other triats as each soul has determination the souls can persist after death

Bravery and Perseverance combined would be Determination, and that'd be between Orange and Purple respectively. I think Red is Determination, and in the True lab there is a Red (From what I've heard in another theory of your's) "heart" in the Determination injector thing.

This is a very old video but to me the soul traits don't represent personality traits but rather the traits are what fuels that specific human's determination. I.e the soul of Justice's determination is fueled by justice the soul of Kindness' determination is fueled by kindness etc.
This also reinforces my belief that the red soul is representative of Hope. Every save point (which are described as manifestations of determination) have flavour text that can be easily interpreted as hopeful in some respect.
That is unless you are on a genocide route.
On a genocide route the save points always say "Determination." This seems to have metacontextual reasoning that could be summed up by the idea that in the genocide route you are consumed by your determination as a player. You are determined to beat genocide no matter what. It isn't hope but rather pure determination

All this talk of traits mix it with other traits to get traits that are somewhere in between those traits, all reminds me of allport’s Theory of personality. If you don’t know what that is I recommend you look it up, it’s quite interesting.

I believe mine would be a light turquoise, symbolizing curiosity.
There is also a chance for a mixed colour SOUL, in which it would be light turquoise and baby pink,(I know I hate pink too, but I felt a connection to it for some reason,) which are curiosity(you already know that tho) and compassion. Maybe a bit of maroon, symbolizing empathy.

Edit: Coming back to this, I am honestly cringing at myself. Clearly my soul would be kindness, but I do think it would be a more gray version, as I'm not as kind as I used to be.

I hear people say that a pink soul means fear, but I disagree. I believe that a pink soul is a combination of determination and a monsters soul. I believe this combination would have traits of judgement because both the player and the monsters have a choice, whether it's mercy or fight.
