I think I can help a bit, but these might be a little off too.
I think the line in the first 'verse' is actually "Dear reader, I'm the worst that you've ever been. For you felt so insecure, and I'm anything." A lot of lyrics on the album lead me to think the vocalist is expressing some frustrations and troubles with who he is in his head, and who he wants to be. Doesn't want to be someone who is inside his head and insecure because he sees himself as anything but insecure. Also, he repeats "I'm anything" later in the song, as you pointed out, so it would make sense that it'd be here too.
Yes, I do think it's "I'm only safe inside your head." At least the logic would follow if the insecure side of him only feels safe when he's not doing anything that exposes him to the outside world. Like a recluse, or a person with strong anxiety problems.
And the last bit where you weren't sure what the words were... I think it's "I'll pray it's you that's in my way. Still, you save me somehow."
At least, those are all the lyrics that make most sense to me based on the idea that he's trying to bring these two sides of a personality together.. Of course, it's all just conjecture for now and could be horribly wrong..
