Glória
Cadillacs Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's not Marie
Gloria, it's not Sherie
Gloria, she's not in love with me
Well, can't you see
It's not Marie?
Gloria, it's not Sherie
Well, maybe she'll love me
How am I to know
And maybe she'll want me
But how am I to know
Gloria, it's not Marie
Gloria, it's not Sherie
Gloria, she's not in love with me
Oh Gloria, it's not Marie
Gloria, it's not Sherie
Gloria, she's not in love with me
Gloria
The lyrics of the song "Gloria" by The Cadillacs is a tale of unrequited love. The singer of the song is deeply in love with a woman named Gloria, but unfortunately, she does not reciprocate his feelings. The song begins with the repetition of the name Gloria, in a manner that shows the singer's obsession with her. He lists out other women who he thinks Gloria might be, but he knows that the woman he loves is none of them.
In the chorus of the song, the singer seems to be trying to convince himself that Gloria is not the right person for him, and he should move on. However, he still clings onto hope that maybe, just maybe, Gloria might love him someday. The lyrics capture the confusion, pain, and longing of unrequited love in a simple yet effective manner.

this is the best version of Gloria. The Channels, Passions, and Vito and the Salutations do a great job too, but this is forever perfection
@JukeboxBalowski
This is a great record and so is the version by the Passions but I think this playlist should also include "Gloria" by Vito & the Salutations, which is probably the 3rd most popular of all the doo-wop versions.
