A tree that cannot produce fruit or grow properly

Too stupid to cry for rain
Unable to recognize its own need for help

Fruitless and choked out by weeds
Bearing no fruit, burdened by other growth

So I write a book of life
I create a guide for those struggling with existence

Using the best words I can find
I use my greatest talent, language

For some struggler to snuggle up
So that those lost and suffering can find comfort and guidance

When the world becomes unkind
During difficult times

I find direction in eastbound clouds
I seek inspiration and guidance beyond myself

And long for what they (might) have
I desire the benefits that others may have already achieved

But when I step into its midst
When I attempt to achieve what others have accomplished

Its substance I cannot grasp
I find that it is beyond my reach, my capacity to understand

So I paint a portrait of you
I create an image of your greatness, your presence

As if you had human disguise
As though you could be made manifest, tangible

With oil and canvas to be clay
With the tools of my craft to create a physical representation

To open up their eyes
To help others recognize your greatness, to be inspired
