Veloso is the fifth of the seven children born to José Telles Veloso ("Seu Zezinho") and Claudionor Vianna Telles Veloso ("Dona Canô"). His younger sister Maria Bethânia, another popular and renowned artist in Brazil, preceded him to fame as a singer in the mid-1960s. He began his career around 1965 singing bossa nova and he has cited his greatest musical influences from his early period as João Gilberto and Dorival Caymmi. (João Gilberto would say later about Caetano's contribution that it added an intellectual dimension to brazilian popular music.) But with such musical collaborators Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Tom Zé, Chico Buarque, and Os Mutantes, and greatly influenced by the later work of The Beatles, developed tropicalismo, which fused Brazilian pop with rock and roll and avant garde art music resulting in a more international, psychedelic, and socially aware sound. Veloso's politically active stance, unapologetically leftist, earned him the enmity of Brazil's military dictatorship which ruled until 1985; his songs were frequently censored, and some were banned. Veloso was also alienated from the socialist left in Brazil becasue of his acceptance and integration of non-nationalist influences (like rock and roll) in his music. Veloso and Gilberto Gil spent several months in jail for "anti-government activity" in 1968 and eventually exiled themselves to London. Caetano Veloso's work upon his return in 1972 was often characterized by frequent appropriations not only of international styles, but of half-forgotten Brazilian folkloric styles and rhythms as well. In particular, his celebration of the Afro-Brazilian culture of Bahia can be seen as the precursor of such Afro-centric groups as Timbalada.
In the 1980s, Veloso's popularity outside Brazil grew, especially in Israel, Portugal, France and Africa. By 2004, he was one of the most respected and prolific international pop stars, with more than fifty recordings available, including songs in soundtracks of movies such as Pedro Almodovar's Hable con Ella (Talk to Her), and Frida. In 2002 Veloso published an account of his early years and the Tropicalia movement, Tropical Truth: A Story of Music and Revolution in Brazil.
His first all-English CD was A Foreign Sound (2004), which covers Nirvana's "Come as You Are" and compositions from the Great American Songbook. Five of the six songs on his third eponymous album, released in 1971, were also in English.
Mae
Caetano Veloso Lyrics

Estou tão infeliz
Falasses, desses, visse não
Imensa solidão
Eu sou um Rei que não tem fim
Que brilhas dentro aqui
Guitarras, salas, vento, chão
Que dor no coração
Ninguém me tens amor
Cigarra, camas, colos, ninhos
Um pouco de calor
Eu sou um homem tão sozinho
Mas brilhas no que sou
E o teu caminha e o meu caminho
É um nem vais nem vou
Meninos, ondas, becos, mãe
E só porque não estais
És para mim que nada mais
Na boca das manhãs
Sou triste, quase um bicho triste
E brilhas mesmo assim
Eu canto, grito, corro, rio
The lyrics to Caetano Veloso's "Mae" express a deep sense of loneliness and yearning for love and connection. The singer begins with "Palavras, calas, nada fiz" ("Words, silence, I've done nothing"), conveying a feeling of stagnation and meaninglessness. The repetition of "Eu sou um Rei que não tem fim/Que brilhas dentro aqui" ("I am a king without end/Who shines inside here") suggests a sense of pride or self-importance, perhaps as a way of compensating for the singer's internal emptiness. However, the following lines, such as "Cidades, mares, povo, rio/Ninguém me tens amor" ("Cities, seas, people, river/No one loves me"), underscore the singer's profound sense of isolation.
The chorus, which includes the refrain "E brilhas mesmo assim" ("And you shine nonetheless"), seems to address the singer's mother, who represents a source of warmth, comfort, and unconditional love. The repeated imagery of "camas, colos, ninhos" ("beds, laps, nests") further underscores the desire for a sense of safety and belonging. The final lines, "Eu canto, grito, corro, rio" ("I sing, scream, run, laugh"), suggest a dual sense of release and despair, as the singer seeks to express their emotions but is ultimately unable to escape their loneliness.

Minha interpretação sobre essa música:
O sol, manhã de flor e sal
E areia no batom
(fala sobre um dia na praia, dias na praia são sempre alegres)
Farol, saudades no varal
E o sol queimando o meu jornal
Minha voz, minha luz, meu som
(atributos a mãe)
Todo homem precisa de uma mãe
Todo homem precisa de uma mãe
O céu, espuma de maçã
Barriga, dois irmãos
(em sua barriga já tiveram duas crianças)
O meu cabelo negra lã
Nariz, e rosto, e mãos
(características marcantes da mãe)
O mel, a prata, o ouro e a rã

This is the lyrics, It's a music written in Portuguese, porn by a Brazilian composer, Caetano Veloso"s son.. Glad you like. A hug, sweet person
EVERY MAN
(Zeca Veloso)
The sun
Morning flower and salt
And sand in lipstick
Lighthouse
I miss you on the clothesline
Red, blue, brown
I am
Umbilical cord
It's never good for me
And the sun
Burning my newspaper
My voice, my light, my sound
Every man needs a mother
Every man needs a mother
The sky
Apple foam
Belly, two brothers
My
Hair, black wool
Nose and face and hands
The honey
Silver, gold and frog
Head and heart
And the sky
Opens in the morning
Shelter, lap, floor
Every man needs a mother
Every man needs a mother

This is a kind of Brazilian poem-making where sentences are largely cut up and you can only vaguely infer what one is talking about. In this case, imagery that references family, ties, the warm light of morning, love.
