De sol a sol
Café Quijano Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

12 horas blancas, 12 horas negras

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Café Quijano's song "De Sol a Sol" depict the everyday life of people who work hard from dawn to dusk, living in a world of facades and societal expectations. The song starts by saying "Una vida entera llena de caretas" which means a life full of masks, pretending to be somebody else in order to conform to society's norms. The singer questions the importance of who somebody is or where they come from, as everyone works tirelessly for 24 hours a day, constantly living in the past with "cara de ayer". Despite this continuous routine, the doors to the store are open as the people work tirelessly to sustain their livelihood.

The following verse describes the cycle of a person's life, alternating between light and dark periods, from childhood to old age, with the ups and downs of a store's business. Just like the sun rises and sets every day, life goes on. In describing the lives of others, the song also mentions a clean vagrant with black hands and women walking and perfuming the streets. The song reflects how the city is alive, with people carrying golden prizes in their hands, and others enter slowly and leave slowly because of love.

Overall, the song evokes a sense of tiredness that comes with the everyday routine, but also of hope, as life continues from day to day despite the struggles and facades that come with it.
