Moon River
Cafe Orchestra Lyrics

I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
(moon river, wider than a mile)
(I'm crossin' you in style some day)
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after that same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me
The lyrics to the classic song "Moon River" by Café Orchestra are open to interpretation, but they seem to describe a person's journey towards their dreams with someone they love. The "moon river" represents the path towards one's aspirations, which is "wider than a mile," and the singer is determined to cross it "in style." The "dream maker" is likely the person who helps the singer achieve their goals, but is also a "heart breaker." Despite this, the singer is committed to following this person "wherever you're going."
The second verse introduces the idea of "two drifters" who are traveling together to see the world. They share a common goal of reaching the "same rainbow's end" and waiting "around the bend." The singer refers to their travel partner as their "huckleberry friend," suggesting a close, intimate relationship. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea that the singer is following their dreams with this person by their side.
Overall, "Moon River" is a song about the journey towards one's dreams and the importance of having a companion along the way. It also touches on the complexities of relationships, with the dream maker being both a source of inspiration and heartbreak.

This is without a doubt one of the absolute best versions of Moon River I've ever heard. I especially love the use off the accordion, it gives the song a very warm and comforting feeling and perfectly compliments Stone's fantastic voice.

Thanks mmhosull, I appreciate it. Incidentally, 'Man Of the Road' is a song written by the late, Dick Farrelly, my father in law. Dick is best known for the song, 'The Isle of Innisfree'.
