"Hearts & Stars" can be heard on the latest version of the video game "MX vs. ATV Untamed." The quartet can also be heard in the soundtrack of WWE Stone Cold Steve Austin’s new move “The Condemned,” in the trailer for the "Dukes of Hazzard" movie, as well as on FX's "The Shield," “American Pie: Band Camp,” and Stephen J. Cannell's thriller "Demon Hunter." Cage9 has performed on cable & satellite G4's "Attack of the Show," subscribed to by over 55 million households nationwide.
The band has been mentioned in Campus Circle, Hits, Music Connection, Skinnie Magazine and Billboard, as well as in Rolling Stone (Latin America) where Cage9's last E.P. received a cool 3.5 star review. Radio playlists spinning Cage9 include L.A.’s “World Famous” KROQ, Phoenix’s KEDJ, (where "Hollywood Car Crash" was the featured song for a week), XM & Sirius Satellite Radio and more. Cage9’s Spanish song “Solo Fue” hit 1 on Panama’s top FM station Radio Mix in February.
Currently serving as the main guitarist for Powerman 5000, Cage9's singer/guitarist Evan Rodaniche landed the band as opener for PM5K's last big U.S. Tour in March, playing in both bands nightly. Cage9 has also gigged with Seether, Buckcherry, Amy Lee of Evanescence, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Wes Boreland's Black Light Burns, Madina Lake, Ice T’s Body Count, Adema, Cheap Trick, ex-Pumpkin James Iha, Godhead, Smile Empty Soul and toured from Europe and Japan, to the U.S. and Central America.
Already a part of Universal Music Publishing, Cage9 recently signed with Japanese label Triple Vision Entertainment / BM.3 Corporation who licensed "Chaos Morning" (Japan exclusive) and “El Motivo” which has sold over 12,000 copies since its release in '07 and cracked that country’s Top 30 in sales! Click HERE for the Japanese website! "El Motivo" is also available stateside in both English and Spanish.
Online rag Melodic.net says "Cage9 has recorded their Physical Graffiti, an intelligent & comprehensive modern rock album worthy of a place in the history books of rock music.” Puddle of Mudd’s drummer Mark Bistany simply says “this album rocks from top to bottom!”
Cage9, based in Los Angeles, is comprised of Panama transplants Evan Rodaniche and Gustavo Aued on guitar/vocals and bass respectively, L.A. native Jesse Beltz on guitar and from Phoenix, AZ, Gordon Heckaman who was recently featured in Modern Drummer Magazine discussing his Ozzfest experience with his last band Depswa. Evan steers the project as the band’s main song-scaper and recording-guru whose production and mixing skills have not only shaped Cage9's sound but that of many other performers from latin-grammy-winners Los Rabanes, Atlantic Record's upstarts Big City Rock, to current Rolling Stone and Spin indie darlings The Willowz.
The band chose the moniker "Cage9" after a trip to Europe, fusing the German word for "no" with "cage" to epitomize the group's no-limits approach towards creating music...
Cage9's video for “My Doppelganger” is in full rotation on Mtv Latino and the band was invited to Mtv's Latin Video Awards in Mexico City in '07 where they walked the red carpet with bands like Juanes, The Cure, Avril Lavigne and more. The video has also appeared on Mtv Japan & Fuse on Demand.

Cage9 Lyrics

The stop and go?
The high and the lo?
I used to want to know,
But then came the liquid logic
With the music around it,
And I'm glad that we found it.
Now we've become lost in the undertow.
Yippeeay, where'd you want to go today?
Sonic hi-5, I'm glad to be alive.
Audiophiliac, I'm gonna take it back.
I'm not gonna let those f**king bastards
Break us like a heart-attack.
Open your mind - let it burn deep inside
(master-blast your dome)...
The only way I know.
The only way I wanna go.
Falling from the sky.
Takes a peice of I.
I'm not givin' up.
Until I've had enough.
I don't know, how it got so far.
Tried to be a star,
Got to be who you are.
I don't know but,
It really sux yeah,
N' I ...and to your ears, suddenly it appears.
Close your eyes tonight.
Open up your mind.
We all need ways to survive.
We all need day as well as night.
The lyrics of Cage9's song Zid contain a longing for a sense of direction, as the singer asks "where's the flo? The stop and go? The high and the lo?" However, this desire is tempered by the discovery of "liquid logic" and music, which has allowed them to become "lost in the undertow." The imagery of being carried along by a current suggests a surrender to the ebb and flow of life rather than a search for a fixed point. This is emphasized by the lines "I'm not givin' up. Until I've had enough," which suggest a commitment to the journey rather than a specific goal.
The lyrics also suggest a celebration of life and a rejection of societal pressures. The singer exclaims "Yippeeay, where'd you want to go today? Sonic hi-5, I'm glad to be alive," expressing a joy in living that does not conform to conventional expectations. The use of the term "audiophiliac" suggests a love of music that borders on obsession, and the determination to "not let those f**king bastards break us like a heart-attack" reveals a defiance against those who would seek to dampen this enthusiasm. Ultimately, the song encourages listeners to "open your mind - let it burn deep inside" and to embrace the ups and downs of life in all their complexity.
