Sacrifice
Cage The Gods Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All my sacrifice
Has left me blinded
I don't feel any younger
I'm finally getting over
That woman
I call you

I ain't giving just cause you want it
And still you take me for some kind of fool
Well does it scare you
Now thatI'm being honest
I've had enough of your lies

All my sacrifice
Has left me blinded
I don't feel any younger
I'm finally getting over
That woman
I call you

I've been thinking
That someday you'll follow me
Times gone by now
I can't live my life through this misery
How long is it been you took everything
Got trapped by the world
You're living in
Had enough of your lies

All my sacrifice
Has left me blinded
I don't feel any younger
I'm finally getting over
That woman
I call you

I contemplate
Some kind of way
To get you off my back

All my sacrifice
Has left me blinded
I don't feel any younger
I'm finally getting over

That woman
I call you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Cage The Gods's "Sacrifice" express a feeling of regret and disillusionment about the sacrifices made for someone who was not worth it. The singer feels "blinded" by all the sacrifice made and realizes that it has not made him feel any younger. He finally admits to himself that the woman he called his had been lying to him, but he had been too naive to see it before. He is now done with her lies and deceit and is ready to move on.

In the second verse, the singer talks about how he had hoped that the woman would follow him someday, but now he sees that it is just a dream. He is tired of living in misery and being trapped in her world, where she takes everything from him. He contemplates finding a way to get her off his back and move on with his life.

The chorus repeats that all the sacrifices have left him "blinded" and not feeling any younger, but he is finally getting over the woman he called his. The song ends with the singer contemplating how to move on from the past and start anew.
