That guy had a gun
Just my luck, I saw it all
I'm not sure but he looked tall
He strolled in, He took aim
Took a shot, Saw them bleed
I could see not that well
Now he's gone, On the run
Don't waste time, Don't look back
You're home free, Was it fun
Was it worth all of that
Look at me I'm the lucky one
Look at me I'm the lucky one
Look at me I'm the lucky one
Look at me I'm the lucky one
He strolled in, He took aim
Took a shot, Saw them bleed
I could see not that well
But that's how it seemed
Now he's gone, On the run
Don't waste time, Don't look back
You're home free, Was it fun
Was it worth all of that
Drop dead
Shock me
Have sense to lock up
Drop dead
Shock me
Have sense to lock - Whoa, oh
I was the only one
Two shots, he dropped the gun
Just my luck, I saw it all
I'm not sure but he looked awful small
He strolled in, He took aim
Took a shot, Saw them bleed
I could see not that well
But that's how it seemed
Now he's gone, On the run
Don't waste time, Don't look back
You're home free, Was it fun
Was it worth all of that
Look at me I'm the lucky one
Look at me I'm the lucky one
The song "Lucky One" by Cake Like tells the story of a witness to a crime, where a man walked in and shot someone with a gun before he fled the scene. The singer in the song recalls the details of the crime, describing the shooter as someone who looked tall or looked awful small. Despite being in the wrong place at the wrong time, the singer feels lucky because she was the only one who saw the incident and was not harmed. The chorus repeats the phrase "look at me, I'm the lucky one," emphasizing the ironic nature of the situation.
The lyrics of the song suggest a sense of shock and disbelief at the sudden and violent act. The image of someone walking in with a gun and taking aim creates a sense of vulnerability and helplessness in the viewer's perception. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the idea that life can take unexpected turns and that being in the right or wrong place at the right or wrong time can have an enormous impact on one's fate.
