Still astounding that an album of southern folk music set to a primitive beatbox stood toe to toe with Zepplin and the Stones and Yes and Bowie and all the other heavies back in 1972. RIP for now, J.J. Cale, thank you forever.

It was a long time ago. Sitting in a friends place. The wailing strains of "Crazy Mama" cut through the atmosphere and immediately created a new one. From that moment on JJ Cale was part of my life. I'd not heard this music before but instantly knew it, loved it and needed it. My hope is that someone somewhere sitting with friends and is moved in the same way when they hear some song or guitar lick that they simply can't resist. R.I.P. JJ Cale............. long live the legacy.

I listened to JJ Cale in 1977 as I drove from Montana to the St. Laurence seaway in upstate New York to see my best friend who lived on one of the 1000 islands there. He was a great companion as I drove my 1966 Fargo van. A Canadian Dodge I had built to live in. Thank you JJ. I’ll never forget driving across Lake Michigan with you singing to my very soul. My oldest son’s name is JJ. ❤️💋

funny thing is that it was just one take, pretty much improvised and jj cale is doing the rhythm guitar part and vocal only. an unknown session man played the wah-wah slide guitar solos that "everyone knows". pointless little detail there, like the way duane allman played the solos that "everyone knows" on Clapton's "layla" from the same year.

Was living in New Zealand in the mid 70's. J J Cale played the 3 main cities and then did a one off concert in the sports shed in our tiny little beach town (Mt Maunganui). We thought we were the coolest people on earth that night, and when I hear his music, I still do.

My step-dad and I visited with JJ after a show several years back. I put at least a few of those several minutes in my top hour here on earth. They're both gone now and I miss them so much. Ma father bought this album as when it was released in 1971. I danced to this song with my mother and sister when I was six years old. (Good memories). To this day the music of JJ Cale ranks in the top five of my most played.

The slide wah guitar needs to make a comeback. Barefoot Jerry and Grinderswitch applied this guitar technique. Really cool. JJ Cale was a completely sick guitarist and tunesmith.
