It was created by self-proclaimed geeks Luria Petrucci (aka Cali Lewis) and her husband Neal Campbell. yeah i don’t understand why so many people try to get into houses through the fucking chimney. at least she went in feet first unlike the last one where the dude went in head first which only made his death more uncomfortable. she was a “genius” yet it never once occurred to her that a chimney only widens at the base to enclose the fire pit where the logs burn. most of these accidents are just people not using a lick of common sense.
when my friends and i were in hs, we used to explore abandoned places in our area and went camping deep in the pine barrens. we always made sure that everyone followed a few simple rules to keep people from getting hurt and to avoid bringing attention to the area. a lot of people in these videos may have lived if then just followed some of them.
- before you even enter a building, look around outside and check the interior through as much as you are able through windows/holes etc.
- if you are going to a large, unfamiliar place or hanging out deep in the woods assume you will get lost and your phone/gps will not work. bring a map and a compass.
- keep a small first aid kit in your car or because people are always getting hurt. if you’re going into the woods always bring flares, a lighter, and stroke anywhere matches. so many people aren’t found because they don’t remember basic kit. honestly you should keep some survival stuff in your car in case you get stuck somewhere that is off the beaten path or in bad weather- emergency blanket, non perishable food, extra water, etc. you get the idea.
- if you see signs that someone has been staying there, it’s a safe assumption that someone could be inside and they may not be friendly, sober, or rational. don’t risk it. many of these places were in the city so homeless people and addicts were a common occurrence.
- no one was allows to go off alone, you had to take at least one person with you.
- each group had to have one flash light for everyone ever two people.
- don’t just blindly walk around, assume that wherever you are trying to go is unstable and could collapse. if you can’t safely test if it can bear weight, skip it.
- check in with everyone at regular intervals if it’s a huge place and your group has split into smaller groups. this is easy since everyone has phones.
- don’t fuck around with small spaces that you have to force yourself into or through. same goes for climbing abandoned structures. plan around the fact that rescue would take hours. plus you have no idea what’s in there.
- and, for the love of god if you are exploring an abandoned factory that has a room with old chemistry stuff everywhere don’t mess around with the chemicals.
that’s all i can remember but feel free to add your own. people may make fun but none of my friends ever died or got seriously injured because of our adventures and we went a lot of crazy places.
