By the age of six Calogero had already taken an interest in music. He quickly learned to play several instruments, including the flute, piano and bass, and in 1986 became the lead singer and song-writer for the band Charts. He started it together with his brother, Gioacchino, and a childhood friend, Francis Maggiulli. Between 1989 and 1997, "Charts" released 5 albums : "L'océan sans fond" (1989), "Notre monde à nous" (1991), "Hannibal" (1994), "Acte 1" (1995), and "Changer" (1997).
As the band began to lose its momentum, Calogero decided to launch himself as a solo artist and gathered important connections by writing songs and collaborating with already popular artists, such as Zazie and Pascal Obispo. The latter helped produce Calogero's first solo album Au milieu des autres (2000). His second album, Calogero (2002) was a huge success with the hit singles "En apesanteur", "Aussi libre que moi", "Tien an men" and "Prendre racine". Finally, in 2004, Calogero released .calog3ro, containing "Face à la mer", a duet with French rapper Passi, and several other top singles such as "Yalla" and "Si seulement je pouvais lui manquer".
Calogero's moving lyrics and frail, tender voice have made him one of France's top pop/rock singers.

Lune d'Avril, blanche saison
Lune d'Avril, blanche saison
Où sont passés ceux que nous étions
Elle est vide, elle est seule
Ma maison
(Quand mes pas me guident, là dans la maison vide)
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
The lyrics of Calogero's song "Ma maison" depict a sense of nostalgia and loss as the singer reflects on the emptiness and abandonment of his house. The opening lines describe the singer's footsteps leading him to a vacant and dilapidated house, with hanging and crying shutters. Suddenly, memories from the past come rushing back as he remembers the laughter, secrets, and sighs that once filled the space. However, time and the passing of days have covered everything with a layer of yesterdays, much like how ivy covers a surface.
The chorus expresses a longing for the past and a lament for the absence of the joyous sounds that used to fill the evenings in the house. The reference to April's moon and the phrase "where have those we were gone" further emphasizes the feeling of loss and the passage of time. The house is now empty and alone, further intensifying the singer's sense of solitude.
In the second verse, the singer asks the listener to believe him if he says he can still hear the echoes of their past evenings resonating. The house used to be a kingdom filled with dreams and children, but now people no longer care about the neglected garden. Laughter and time carry them away, just like the wind carries the dead leaves. The repetition of the chorus continues to emphasize the yearning for the presence of the past sounds and the emptiness of the house.
Overall, "Ma maison" by Calogero explores themes of nostalgia, loss, and the passage of time. It depicts a sentimental reflection on the emptiness and abandonment of a once lively and vibrant space, evoking a sense of longing for the joyful moments that have been lost.
