Lloyd I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken
Camera Obscura Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He said I'll protect you like you are the crown jewels yet
Said he's feeling sorry for me, the more I behave badly I can bet

Hey Lloyd I'm ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can't see further than my own nose at this moment

Jealousy is more than a word now, I understand
You can't stay a girl while holding a boy's hand

Hey Lloyd I'm ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can't see further than my own nose at this moment
Hey Lloyd I'm ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can't see further than my own nose at this moment, at this moment

I've got my life of complication here to sort out
I'll take myself to an east coast city and walk about

Hey Lloyd I'm ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can't see further than my own nose at this moment
Hey Lloyd I'm ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can't see further than my own nose at this moment

Hey Lloyd I'm ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can't see further than my own nose at this moment, at this moment

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Camera Obscura’s song “Lloyd, I’m Ready to Be Heartbroken” depict a girl who is looking to move on from a difficult relationship. She is contemplating her life and decisions while trying to come to terms with her own feelings. The opening lines, “He said I'll protect you like you are the crown jewels yet, Said he's feeling sorry for me, the more I behave badly I can bet,” suggest a man who may have been abusive or manipulative in the past, but is now trying to be supportive. However, the girl questions his sincerity and feels trapped in her own emotions.

The chorus, “Hey Lloyd I'm ready to be heartbroken, 'Cause I can't see further than my own nose at this moment,” captures the essence of the song. The girl acknowledges her own narrow view of the situation and her readiness to move on. She realizes the importance of dealing with her own issues before getting involved with anyone else again. The lines “Jealousy is more than a word now, I understand, You can't stay a girl while holding a boy's hand,” hint at the fact that the girl may have been overly possessive or jealous in the past and is now looking to change that.

The final lines suggest that the girl plans to take control of her life by moving to a new place and exploring. “I'll take myself to an east coast city and walk about,” she sings. The song showcases the girl’s journey towards self-discovery and healing.

Funfact: This song is her answer to Lloyd Coles song from 1984: Are you ready to get heartbroken. He was humble when she informed him about it.

@carlosblake195

I didn´t know that man, thanks for the info.

@huesos_azules

uhmm actually this information is false, lloyd cole and the commotions have no song by such name

@Erlendkrantz

@@huesos_azules you better Google it. I grew up in 80s and i have this song on a vinyl record. I found it on iTunes as well. Maybe you should change Your view of life. Cause you didnt find it doesnt mean that it dont excist.

@Erlendkrantz

@@huesos_azules you are obviously confused. The song is no 10 on Lloyd Coles album Rattlesnakes, from 1984. I also heard an intervju with Lloyd Cole after the release of Camera Obscuras song Lloyd, Im ready to be heartbroken and he was a bit proud of that. All this is facts. So go on with Your own theories, but Keep me and Lloyd Cole out of it. Case closed.

@Erlendkrantz

@@huesos_azules well patience is no 9 on my record, and no 10 is the one mentioned.
