She is a pop, and Latin-influenced performer who first came to prominence as a founding member of the girl group Fifth Harmony. Born Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao in Cojimar, Cuba, Cabello moved to Miami, Florida at the age of six. Growing up in a Spanish-speaking environment (her mother is Cuban and her father is Mexican), she fostered her love of music by listening to Celia Cruz and Alejandro Fernández. At the age of 15, she auditioned for The X Factor in Greensboro, North Carolina. Even though she was eliminated (along with her four future groupmates), the judges brought her back. Simon Cowell combined the girls into a quintet and formed Fifth Harmony.
Despite finishing in third place, they went on to be the most successful contestants from that season. The group's debut EP, Better Together, was released in October 2013, with acoustic reworkings, Spanish versions (Juntos and Juntos Acoustic), and a remix album following a month later. Their debut single, "Miss Movin' On," was the highest-charting U.S. X Factor single at the time, a feat beaten only by each successive Fifth Harmony single.
The group's debut LP, Reflection, was released in early 2015, featuring the hits "Sledgehammer" (written by Meghan Trainor) and "Worth It," featuring rapper Kid Ink. While backstage on Taylor Swift's 1989 world tour, Cabello wrote a duet with Canadian singer/songwriter Shawn Mendes. Fifth Harmony's sophomore set, 7/27, was issued in 2016, supported by a world tour and the hit single "Work from Home."
Outside of Fifth Harmony, Cabello paired with rapper Machine Gun Kelly for the October 2016 single "Bad Things." Well received, the track made a slow climb toward the top of the Billboard singles chart, and ultimately garnered the singer her first Top Ten song as a solo artist. That December, Cabello announced her departure from Fifth Harmony. Following her exit, Cabello collaborated with Cashmere Cat on "Love Incredible" and Pitbull and J Balvin on "Hey Ma" from the Fate of the Furious soundtrack.
In May 2017, Cabello released her debut (non-album) solo single, the Sia Furler co-written "Crying in the Club," which peaked in the Top 40 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The promotional (non-album) single,"I Have Questions," was released a few days later. She also joined Bruno Mars as the opening act on his 24K Magic World Tour. New writing and recording sessions for her album were influenced by the success of her single "Havana" featuring Young Thug, which postponed its original release date and influenced the change of the record name from “The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving.” to “Camila.”
In early 2018 she returned with her debut full-length solo album, Camila, which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200. It featured production by Frank Dukes, Jarami, and others. On June 21, 2019, Cabello released "Señorita" with Canadian singer Shawn Mendes, along with the music video. The song debuted at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and marks Mendes' and Cabello's second collaboration, following "I Know What You Did Last Summer" released in 2015. In August, "Señorita" climbed to the number one position, making it Cabello's second single to top the Hot 100 chart as lead artist. According to the IFPI, "Señorita" was the third best-selling song of 2019 globally. She is also a part of the song "South of the Border" by Ed Sheeran along with American rapper Cardi B, released in July 2019.
In October 2018, Cabello announced she would start working on new music in the new year after the holidays. In December 2018 she was nominated for two Grammys: Best Pop Solo Performance for a live version of "Havana" and Best Pop Vocal Album for Camila. Her performance at the ceremony made her the first female Latin artist to open the show. Cabello announced her sophomore album, Romance, which released December 6th, 2019. It debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 Chart and features two collaborations with Canadian singer-songwriter, Shawn Mendes and American Rapper, DaBaby. The fourth single, My Oh My, which featured DaBaby, has reached the top 20 in many countries and peaked at 22 on the Billboard 100 (As of March 2020).
In April 2019, it was announced that Cabello would star in an upcoming film adaptation of Cinderella, directed by Kay Cannon for Sony Pictures. Cinderella is set to be released February 5th, 2021 and will feature a soundtrack alongside the film.

A few nights ago on the 19th of January 2019, my mother was celebrating her birthday with her friends at a music festival when suddenly she had a 4th degree brain hemorrhage, which from what I've learnt from the doctors means that a blood vessel in her brain burst and started bleeding severely. She then had a seizure, and later at the hospital had another brain hemorrhage. She nearly died, and has been in a coma since that horrible night. It's now the 23rd of January 2019, so it has only been a few nights and there is still a risk of her never waking up or being in a completely vegetative state, but our family and friends and I are praying for her to wake up. When (yes, I am saying when) she wakes up she will obviously have a lot of brain damage, and I am praying that she will overcome the depression and suicidal thoughts that a lot of people with her injuries have experienced. I am praying she remembers me and my sister and her family, and I am praying that the effects of her brain damage are things that can be relearned (such as talking, walking, if she forgets how to do either of those then she can relearn them hopefully), and that her permanent effects will not be too severe. I am 14 years old and my mother has to attend my graduation, my wedding, and one day meet her grand kids, so she can't leave yet and I'm visiting her everyday until she wakes up. I might not be able to visit everyday when school starts, but I will be visiting as often as I can. But anyway, this song reminds me of her. I listened to it over and over after I heard about her condition. My mother was never a drug addict or anything or that sort, in fact she was perfectly healthy and we've speculated that the most likely cause of her brain hemorrhages is because of an accident that happened back in December when she accidentally tripped and hurt her forehead on a stage and never got it checked out at a hospital. But this song still reminds me of her. She is being heavily medicated and drugged to keep her in her unconscious state for the time being so her brain can start to heal, and I talk to her and message her everyday and I want her to know that when she wakes up, I am going to be with her for the rest of her life and I will support her and love her so much everyday. And that when things get rough for her due to her condition, I'll leave a light on for her and help her get through it and love herself.
If you are someone who knows somebody going through a hard time, no matter what it is, here is my word of advice on how NOT to comfort them. My friend today messaged me and asked how my mother was doing in hospital. I replied, then my friend proceeded to message something along the lines of "cool okay so how has everything else been going? by the way, I'm selling phone cases for 10 dollars, so let me know what pattern and colour you would like if you want one!!".
She did a couple other similar things too these past few days but it isn't really appropriate for me to complain too much on here.
Needless to say, she is not my friend anymore. And I don't care if she is just a dumbass 14 year old.
If you have a friend who is going through a hard time, do NOT trick them into thinking that you actually give a damn. If you truly care and feel sorry for your friend, please offer your support as they really do need it during their grieving process, and for a long time afterwards. But if you don't give a damn and are going to just pretend that you do for your own personal benefit, fuck off.
(I'm rereading this after my most recent edit on the 4th of March, and the friend mentioned here has apologised for the inappropriate ways she reacted that I haven't mentioned here, so I am now on good terms with her, but this still applys)

It's been nearly a month, and my mother was improving steadily but I got news today that her condition worsened. She's still fighting strong however. Hi everyone <3 After a brain aneurysm, two subsequent bleeds, a stroke, and pneumonia, my mother STILL kept fighting because she's so strong and I'm so proud of her <3 but I'm sorry to share that the doctors confirmed she would not be able to move her limbs/talk in the future, and she had severe brain damage. My mummy kept smiling everyday, and my family and I were at her side every single day and she kept fighting and fighting but unfortunately life works in mysterious ways and heaven decided that they needed another angel to light up the sky <3 after being taken off the ventilator on the 28th of February, my mother slept peacefully until she passed away a little after midnight yesterday on the 3rd of March. Thank you so much everyone for your prayers, reading these comments have gotten me through the past six weeks and will continue to do so, thank you for praying for my beautiful mother <3 <3 She was such a bubbly, happy strong woman who did whatever she wanted to and let nothing get in her way <3 Rest peacefully mummy <3

Hi everyone, it's been 2 years and I'm just here to say that while I still continue to love and miss my mother very much, things do get easier as the memories become less painful. She's always with me in my heart, and sometimes yea it is overwhelming when my brain makes me think too much about it, but my mental state has improved a lot and I just want to say I'm so sorry to anyone going through the same thing. Just keep pushing through and relying on those who care about you, there are people who love you and who want to support you and hear you out when you need a shoulder to cry on. Sending love to you all <3 Let's all continue doing nice things and making this world better than how we found it, that's a way that we can honour those we love who have passed on :)

Yep 👍 my Fiance took his life in December and it is absolute agony. I have never, ever felt pain like this. It also passes suicidal ideation onto those remaining.
