Candlebox was known for an explosive live show and throughout their 8 year career, they toured with such bands as Living Colour, The Flaming Lips, Our Lady Peace, Rush, Henry Rollins, and Metallica. They were also a featured band on the main-stage at Woodstock '94 and made repeat live performances on the David Letterman show.
They are best known for the singles "Change", "You", "Far Behind" and "Simple Lessons". "Far Behind" entered Billboard's Top 20 in July of 1993 and didn't drop off the charts until January of 1994. The videos for "Far Behind" and "You" were in seemingly perpetual rotation on MTV and became two of the most requested videos of 1993.
Drummer Scott Mercado left the band in 1997 and was replaced by former Pearl Jam member Dave Krusen. Krusen later left the band in 1999 and was replaced by Shannon Larkin of Ugly Kid Joe. Bardi Martin also left the band that year, and was replaced by Rob Reddick (formerly of Dig). The band split in year 2000.
As of 2005, singer Kevin Martin is currently recording and performing as the leader of The Hiwatts. Peter Klett is currently recording and performing as the leader of redlightmusic.
In 2006, Candlebox has reunited with their original line-up. They went on a three-month North American tour beginning on July 1st of the same year. This marks their first collaboration since 1996.
In 2008, Candlebox released their fourth studio album called "Into the sun". This meant their return since 1998's Happy Pills. Also, they released a Live album called "Alive in Seattle" which includes tracks from all their past albums.
In 2009, Kevin Martin (along with Sean Hennesy, Candlebox's guitarist) helped form the super-group The Gracious Few with three of the members of the band LIVE. Functioning as lead singer, the band went on to release a self-titled album which accompanied an extensive tour. Though LIVE has reformed with a new lead singer, more material from The Gracious Few is said to be released in the future
Baby Love Me

Something is burning inside me, it's taking me higher
I stand to break, from bending so far
I've gone from rooted to maybe, I don't want to restart
Why can't I speak? Why can't I relate?
You've got me spinning and spinning and spinning
My knees giving way
So you said I was the one you'd wait a lifetime for
You held your breathe, you bet your life but somehow still unsure
Come on baby love me
Come on baby love me
Come on baby love me
Like I wanna love you
Repeat
I held your hand through all your rainy days
Somehow lover, I'm still standing in your rain
And when your days get shorter, and your mind it wanders,
And when your breath gets weaker, I'm still gonna love you
Why can't I speak, why can't I just say
You've got me turning and turning and turning, so lost in your ways.
Chorus
Like I wanna touch you.
The first verse of Candlebox's song "Baby Love Me" describes the overwhelming sensation that arises between two people who share an indescribable connection. The singer talks about how his heart misfires and how something inside of him is burning, and this feeling is taking him higher. This heightened emotion is too much for him to bear, and he can't seem to focus or keep his bearings. He says he's gone from being rooted in one place to feeling uncertain, and he doesn't want to lose this feeling that he's experiencing. However, he finds himself lost in thought, unable to speak or relate, as he keeps spinning around in circles, his knees giving way.
The chorus of the song captures the moment when the object of the singer's desire confesses their love for him. It talks about how the other person had said that he was the one they would wait a lifetime for, and somehow, even though they bet their life on it, they're still unsure about their feelings. The singer then implores this person to come on and love him like he wants to love them. He repeats this phrase three times, creating a sense of urgency and desire that is almost palpable.
The second verse goes on to describe how the singer has been there for the other person through thick and thin, a constant source of strength and support. Even when the other person is going through a difficult time, he remains by their side, never faltering, never flinching. He says that even when their days become shorter and their mind wanders, even when their breath gets weaker, he's still going to love them. He then goes back to the refrain, asking why he can't speak and why he can't just say what he's feeling. He ends this part of the song by repeating the line "lost in your ways," once again highlighting the all-consuming nature of his love.
