Candlebox was known for an explosive live show and throughout their 8 year career, they toured with such bands as Living Colour, The Flaming Lips, Our Lady Peace, Rush, Henry Rollins, and Metallica. They were also a featured band on the main-stage at Woodstock '94 and made repeat live performances on the David Letterman show.
They are best known for the singles "Change", "You", "Far Behind" and "Simple Lessons". "Far Behind" entered Billboard's Top 20 in July of 1993 and didn't drop off the charts until January of 1994. The videos for "Far Behind" and "You" were in seemingly perpetual rotation on MTV and became two of the most requested videos of 1993.
Drummer Scott Mercado left the band in 1997 and was replaced by former Pearl Jam member Dave Krusen. Krusen later left the band in 1999 and was replaced by Shannon Larkin of Ugly Kid Joe. Bardi Martin also left the band that year, and was replaced by Rob Reddick (formerly of Dig). The band split in year 2000.
As of 2005, singer Kevin Martin is currently recording and performing as the leader of The Hiwatts. Peter Klett is currently recording and performing as the leader of redlightmusic.
In 2006, Candlebox has reunited with their original line-up. They went on a three-month North American tour beginning on July 1st of the same year. This marks their first collaboration since 1996.
In 2008, Candlebox released their fourth studio album called "Into the sun". This meant their return since 1998's Happy Pills. Also, they released a Live album called "Alive in Seattle" which includes tracks from all their past albums.
In 2009, Kevin Martin (along with Sean Hennesy, Candlebox's guitarist) helped form the super-group The Gracious Few with three of the members of the band LIVE. Functioning as lead singer, the band went on to release a self-titled album which accompanied an extensive tour. Though LIVE has reformed with a new lead singer, more material from The Gracious Few is said to be released in the future

When I walk alone
Cover me
When my stance it stumbles homes
Cover me
We'll trip on through the sands of time
And cover me
Cause I've been branded
Lost my mind
But you'll cover me yeah
Give me shelter fro the storm
Over me
You fade into the night
Over me
You melt into the light
Over me
You will fear the things I need
Over me
You will feel the hate I breed
You're under me
And you will question my authority
You're under me
You will lose almost everything
You're under me
You will feel the pain I bring you
You're under me
And you never change
You never change a fucking thing
Not a fucking thing
But you'll cover me
Yeah, give me shelter from the storm
over me
Cover me
Don't you cover me
Cover me
Won't you
Cover me
Cover me
Give me shelter from the storm
People push & shove on time
I give it to you
What I have is what is mine
I feel it for you
You've got to cover me
You've got to cover me
People take & people steal
I have it for you
What I have is what I fear
I fear it for you
You've got to cover me
Cause I've been branded a broken man
Broken man
But you'll cover me, yes
Give me shelter from the storm
In Candlebox's song Cover Me, the lyrics can be interpreted in different ways, but a particular interpretation stands out. The song is about a man who is broken and feeling lost, and he is searching for someone to cover him with love and support. The song opens with a plea for someone to cover him as he walks alone, stumbling and lost in life. The song goes on to describe the depth of the man's brokenness, as he has lost his mind and feels branded. However, the singer finds solace in a relationship where the other person covers him; they give him shelter from the storm, and he feels a sense of security and love when he is around them.
The second half of the song becomes more aggressive, as the singer describes the power dynamic in the relationship. He asserts his authority over his partner, saying that they are under him, and they will feel the pain he brings. This turns the chorus on its head, as the singer asks the other person not to cover him, but instead to take everything he has and feel the fear and pain he experiences. Ultimately, the song ends with a plea for someone to cover him yet again, as he has been branded a broken man, and still needs love and support to get through life.

I agree 100%. I am so glad I am GenX'er. Not many bands came to South Florida until about 1989 until about 2003.
