Rain
Candlebox Lyrics
Well I woke up one morning
Seen my baby fly away
Sugar don't go
She said I don't be treatin' her
Right by the things I say
Sugar don't go
Don't go I feel I'll be left alone
And I'll cry
Oh in the rain
Early one morning I packed her bags
I've done her wrong
I said baby I'm gonna change
Gonna change for the better
Sugar don't go
You can't be leaving me so alone
And I'll cry in the rain
In the rain
Oh in the rain
In the rain
Sugar go
Now sugar go you leave me alone
As you packed your bags
You've got your plane on the road
I said oh why'd you leave
Oh why'd you leave
You gotta leave me alone
I'm feeling sad
I'm feeling sad
You gotta back off
Baby you treat me
Baby you treat me
My life and I could take my time
I lose it
What I have
Is what I have
Is what I give to you
And I feel I'm gone
I've been crying
What you gonna do
Who you gonna see
Where you gonna pack your bags
And where you gonna stay
Say where you gonna go
Who you gonna ho'
Where you gonna lay your hat today
I said what you gotta change what you gonna do
Where you gonna lay your mines down
What you gonna do
What you gonna take
Where you gonna go baby
Who you gonna
Stay with me again
I said move it on
Oh I said move it on
I said move it on
Oh won't you move it on down the line
Well on down the line
I said pack your bags now baby
You gotta move it on down the line
I said I want to tell you
Say, what you gonna do
Who you gonna stay
Where you gonna ho' your ass out all over town
Baby, where you gonna go
Who you gonna see
What you gonna do with your time
I said what you gonna do
Who you gonna take
Where you gonna lay your hat down
Where you gonna call your home
Where you gonna go
Who you gonna see
What you gonna do with your time
I said move it on
Oh won't you move it on
I said move it on
Hey you gotta move it on down the line
Well on down the line
I said move it on down
I said move it on down
Said what you gonna do
Where you gonna stay
Who you gonna ho' your ass out
Baby where you lay your hat today
I said what you gonna do
Who you gonna see
Where you gonna go and spend your time to be
Baby,
What you gonna do
Who you gonna see
Where you gonna go
When I set you free
I said move it on
Oh won't you move it on
Hey move it on
Oh won't you move it on down
On down the line
Oh baby, I said baby
I said baby
I said baby
I said what you gonna do you with your time now woman
You got asked to leave now
Pack your bags you gotta go
Where you gonna go
Who you gonna see
When you lay your hat down tighter
I said move it on

Formed in December 1991, they originally named the band Uncle Duke and later changed it as a tribute to a song by Midnight Oil. They were sometimes looked down upon by grunge fans for their style, which was considered by many to be a derivative version of true grunge, and their commercial success suffered as a result. Despite this, the band played the Seattle club circuit during the early 1990s to the many of the same fans who had supported many of the bands that had come immediately before them. The members did not consider Candlebox to be a grunge band however; they viewed themselves as a rock and roll band more than anything. Nevertheless, Candlebox had sold more than 4 million copies of their self-titled debut which, after many months of gaining momentum, peaked at number 7 on Billboard's album charts. Their follow up album, Lucy, was certified as platinum. Their third and last album was Happy Pills, which was released in 1998. Candlebox was the first successful act on Madonna's Maverick Records, which went on to sign Alanis Morissette, Deftones, and Prodigy.
Candlebox was known for an explosive live show and throughout their 8 year career, they toured with such bands as Living Colour, The Flaming Lips, Our Lady Peace, Rush, Henry Rollins, and Metallica. They were also a featured band on the main-stage at Woodstock '94 and made repeat live performances on the David Letterman show.
They are best known for the singles "Change", "You", "Far Behind" and "Simple Lessons". "Far Behind" entered Billboard's Top 20 in July of 1993 and didn't drop off the charts until January of 1994. The videos for "Far Behind" and "You" were in seemingly perpetual rotation on MTV and became two of the most requested videos of 1993.
Drummer Scott Mercado left the band in 1997 and was replaced by former Pearl Jam member Dave Krusen. Krusen later left the band in 1999 and was replaced by Shannon Larkin of Ugly Kid Joe. Bardi Martin also left the band that year, and was replaced by Rob Reddick (formerly of Dig). The band split in year 2000.
As of 2005, singer Kevin Martin is currently recording and performing as the leader of The Hiwatts. Peter Klett is currently recording and performing as the leader of redlightmusic.
In 2006, Candlebox has reunited with their original line-up. They went on a three-month North American tour beginning on July 1st of the same year. This marks their first collaboration since 1996.
In 2008, Candlebox released their fourth studio album called "Into the sun". This meant their return since 1998's Happy Pills. Also, they released a Live album called "Alive in Seattle" which includes tracks from all their past albums.
In 2009, Kevin Martin (along with Sean Hennesy, Candlebox's guitarist) helped form the super-group The Gracious Few with three of the members of the band LIVE. Functioning as lead singer, the band went on to release a self-titled album which accompanied an extensive tour. Though LIVE has reformed with a new lead singer, more material from The Gracious Few is said to be released in the future

It amazes me sometimes- that this band did not go further.
I got to see them open for Rush on the Counterparts tour in 1994 at the Orlando Arena (Now Amway Arena)...
This one + you was what sold me on them. They played both songs so well- live.
I had never heard the band before. So it was really cool- to get introduced to them via a live performance. I mean how many records or songs do people get first introduced to either on the radio or what was mtv, or trading, and any and every other way - exept a live concert?
I didn't follow them closely afterward- I had my own things going on and was playing- my own stuff...
But this record- it just showed so much potential of what a great rock/blues band- is capable of doing.
I think the problem with them was- they just weren't alternative enough like weezer or the breeders other bands they got lumped in a category with in the uhm '90s grunge era'... I don't consider Candlebox grunge- at all.
I remember even Queensryche waited a good 4 years between Empire and Promised Land, because they didn't want to be caught up in the media making comparisons- between them and the Seattle grunge bands either... they wanted to wait and let people get some of the grunge explosion- at least partially- out of their system.
The 90s were a tough time for certain kinds of bands, especially ones that weren't super alternative or grungy...
