Their debut album "In The Dream Of The Sea Life" struck the hearts and ears of internet music dorks, and they have been riding a residual wave of praise since. Their sound and their aesthetic is familiar and unique; they smoosh Pet Sounds harmonies through Animal Collective gurgle and approach the aftermath with naivety and wonder. Their music is both classic and totally modern.
Candy Claws explores the wonders of our natural world through the lenses of mid-century lounge music, 60s pop, 70s nature documentary soundtracks, a single 80s drum fill, 90s shoegaze, and modern sampling techniques.
A remastered version of 'In the Dream of The Sea Life' was released on Irish label Indiecater Records on August 4, 2009. A CD version was released on October 26, 2009.
Birth of the Flower
Candy Claws Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Suddenly the sight
Of color everywhere
A flower whispers in your ear
The story of its origin, Sundance Sea
I see you′re listening (Your look with me)
And all I see is new
A flower's scent
Changes our path
Songs of birds describe
The light in the presence and absence
Of light butterflies
Wind around each other as they rise
A flower′s scent changes
(All I see is, all I see is new)
We see a
A beauty
Only we (we have seen)
You see (we see)
You have seen it
You can see it
I see it in you, you'll see it in me, I see
We see a
A beauty
Only we (We have seen)
You see (we see)
You have seen it
You can see it
I see it in you, you'll see it in me, I see
The lyrics to Candy Claws's "Birth of the Flower" speak to the transformative power of nature, particularly when it comes to the beauty and wonder of flowers. The song begins with the image of a white sun, and the sudden appearance of color and vibrancy that comes with the presence of a flower. The lyrics suggest that the flower itself is whispering in the listener's ear, telling the story of its origin in the Sundance Sea. As the song progresses, the lyrics emphasize the way in which a flower's scent can change our path, drawing us in with its beauty and transforming our experience of the world around us.
The lyrics are evocative and poetic, suggesting a sense of wonder and awe at the natural world. The imagery of the light, butterflies, and birds singing all speak to the intricate interconnectedness of nature, and the way in which even the smallest living things can have a profound effect on our experience of the world. The repetition of the phrase "All I see is new" underscores this sense of transformation and renewal - that just as the flower can bloom and change, so too can we experience profound shifts in our perspective and understanding of the world around us.
Overall, "Birth of the Flower" is a lyrical celebration of the power and beauty of nature, and the way in which even the smallest living things can transform our experience of the world around us.
