Their debut album "In The Dream Of The Sea Life" struck the hearts and ears of internet music dorks, and they have been riding a residual wave of praise since. Their sound and their aesthetic is familiar and unique; they smoosh Pet Sounds harmonies through Animal Collective gurgle and approach the aftermath with naivety and wonder. Their music is both classic and totally modern.
Candy Claws explores the wonders of our natural world through the lenses of mid-century lounge music, 60s pop, 70s nature documentary soundtracks, a single 80s drum fill, 90s shoegaze, and modern sampling techniques.
A remastered version of 'In the Dream of The Sea Life' was released on Irish label Indiecater Records on August 4, 2009. A CD version was released on October 26, 2009.

An) abundance (of new) life e(mer)ges
Each (hour on) land, in wat(er and) air
Inside (morning) begins
Circles of eggs in mud-mound nests
With gentleness are protected inside
Warm underneath rotting leaf heat
The mystery is all around us continuously
The lyrics to Candy Claws's song "Illusion" appear to depict the beauty and wonder of nature's cycle of life, particularly in the morning. The first line suggests that morning begins within a flower, symbolizing the beginning of a new day. The next line emphasizes the emergence of abundant new life, highlighting the continuous renewal and growth found in nature. The subsequent lines mention the presence of life in various forms: on land, in water, and in the air, suggesting that this cycle of life is all-encompassing.
The lyrics further describe the intricate details of nature's reproduction process. Circles of eggs in mud-mound nests indicate the protective measures taken by certain species to ensure the survival of their offspring. The notion of warmth underneath rotting leaf heat suggests that even in the decay and decomposition of nature, there is still an essence of life and growth. Ultimately, the lyrics convey the idea that the mysteries and wonders of nature are constantly present and surrounding us.
Overall, "Illusion" seems to celebrate the beauty and harmony found in nature's cycles, reminding us of the interconnectedness of all living things and the continuous renewal of life.

So dark and mysterious, honestly- this is one of those songs you swear you've heard before but know you haven't. Like it's always existed somewhere.

The riff in the chorus kind of reminds me of a Shepard tone. Anyone else? I think that might be why the song is so catchy
