Their debut album "In The Dream Of The Sea Life" struck the hearts and ears of internet music dorks, and they have been riding a residual wave of praise since. Their sound and their aesthetic is familiar and unique; they smoosh Pet Sounds harmonies through Animal Collective gurgle and approach the aftermath with naivety and wonder. Their music is both classic and totally modern.
Candy Claws explores the wonders of our natural world through the lenses of mid-century lounge music, 60s pop, 70s nature documentary soundtracks, a single 80s drum fill, 90s shoegaze, and modern sampling techniques.
A remastered version of 'In the Dream of The Sea Life' was released on Irish label Indiecater Records on August 4, 2009. A CD version was released on October 26, 2009.

Listening
Hiding beneath a leaf
Listening to strange calls
The space around us grows
Vast the closer we are
Listening to strange calls
The space around us grows
Vast the closer we are
Night fills the spaces around
Around the forest, gentle give of (your whisper)
Night fills the spaces around
Around the forest, gentle give of (your whisper)
Hiding beneath a leaf
Listening to strange calls (the space around us)
The space around us grows
Vast the closer we are
Hiding beneath a leaf
Listening to strange calls (the space around us)
The space around us grows
Vast the closer we are
Night fills the spaces around (night fills the spaces)
Around the forest, gentle give of (gentle give)
Night fills the spaces around (night fills the spaces around)
Around the forest, gentle give of (the forest, gentle give)
Night fills in the spaces around (night fills the spaces)
Around the forest, gentle give of (gentle give)
Night fills in the spaces around (night fills the spaces around)
Around the forest, gentle give of (the forest, gentle give)
The lyrics of Candy Claws's song "Night Ela" seem to convey a sense of intimacy and connection with nature. The repeated line "Hiding beneath a leaf, listening to strange calls" suggests a deep engagement with the natural world, possibly highlighting the act of observing and experiencing the wonders of nature while remaining hidden or unseen. The mention of the space around us growing vast the closer we are implies a sense of expanding awareness and interconnectedness as one immerses themselves in the beauty and mysteries of the natural environment.
The repetition of "Night fills the spaces around, around the forest, gentle give of your whisper" further emphasizes this connection with the night and the forest. It evokes a serene and mystical atmosphere, where the night itself becomes an active force, enveloping and filling the surroundings. The mention of a "gentle give of your whisper" suggests a quiet and subtle exchange or communication within this natural setting.
Overall, the lyrics of "Night Ela" invite the listener to immerse themselves in the hidden spaces of nature, to observe and listen to the strange calls and whispers of the forest, and to experience a sense of vastness and interconnectedness with the world around them.

So many people don't get this far into the album (there's so much to listen to) but this is just heavenly...or possibly hellish...you've never heard anything like this before, anyway!

If this hasn’t been sampled for a hip hop beat, then the world is fucking up.
Later in the song where it goes to 4/4, after being wonky the rest of the song; feels like floating in warm cream.
