Void
Canopy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Structureless shapes
The world as you know it will fall
Last lingering thread
It's origins denied by us all

Pulsating through deadscapes in floods
Poison every last withering vine
The core is rotten, an undergrowing seed
A sight of aw, bend to the obscene

Fractured world
As will and perception, follow me
Driven by one sole intention
As we arrange the patterns, bound to you
Inactivate our trauma

Motionless acts
The world as you know it in wait
Further away
Give in to the concept of hate

Pulsating through deadscapes in floods
Poison every last shell of rust

The pendium is swinging, unearth all you need
Galleries emptied, a sickening deed

Fractured world
As will and perception, follow me
Driven by one sole intention
As we arrange the patterns, bound to you
Inactivate our trauma

Picture myself in void
This one design I'm through
Picture myself in void
All debt left for you

Walked into the hallway
Gathered dust, right on time

Pour my mind open
Drastic change, still inclined

Stand, ready and waiting
Time is now, will decide

Overall Meaning

The song Void by Canopy is a commentary on the current state of the world, which the lyricist perceives as being in a state of decay. The first verse points out that the world is becoming shapeless and that our perception of it is falling apart. The idea that our perception is the last lingering thread that ties us to the world is noteworthy. This indicates that the lyricist believes that once our perception of the world becomes disjointed, we will lose touch with it entirely. The cause of this is described as a core that is rotten, which is growing beneath the surface of the world, unnoticed by most. This seed of destruction pulsates through the deadscapes and poisons all life it touches. The second verse continues along the same vein, pointing out that the world is fractured, and it is being consumed by hate. The pendulum is swinging, and we are on the verge of an unholy deed. The chorus speaks of the singer's desire to remove themselves from this world, which is poisoned and fractured, and to move into the void, leaving their debt to the world.

4:07 ... That bass solo gives me chills every single time.

Grimsdottir

This song immediately sold me on the game after hearing it in the demo.
I must've replayed that demo like 50 times, just flying around timing the gameplay with the beat of the song, it's so good.

DrMerciless

This game was a lot of fun. I wish it would have picked up. I often play this game just for the soundtrack.

Nantchev

Yeah, soundtrack was good.

I also like the verticality of the game play. You have a jetpack with unlimited fuel! How cool is that?!

Miles R4

Amazing game indeed.

3:20 is my favorite part. It really gives the feeling of soaring through the clouds at rocket speed.

Soap74205

It definitely has a BSG to it (and yeah I know that Bear did the scoring of the series) and that's one of the reasons why I like the game so far.

Anthony Freeman
