The lyrics of Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino's song Ziccate, which is in the Salento dialect, describes the essence of a daily life struggle of people living in the country. The song translates to the fact that while everyone works throughout the day in their respective fields, the singer, i.e., the persona, is the only one who is utilizing the sun's energy by having installed solar panels in his field. It provides an image of the reality of life, where the system is imperfect and the only thing that matters is profit.
The singer states that the rest of the people continue with the traditional approach of using agriculture equipment and are not interested in modernization. Consequently, our environment is filled with trash that could have been easily avoided. The system is deeply flawed, and the people are entirely unaware of this reality as they walk into an uncertain future. The refrain of "e zun zun zu" adds to the rhythm of the song and provides a sense of unease and urgency, implying that unless people wake up and act, a massive environmental disaster is inevitable.
