Capital conquest can be pretty fun. One thing I like to do is that if someone's capital is blocked behind another capital, I take out all of his territories outside of the capital. This will block him and force a fight between him and the player that has the capital blocking the territory.

Unfortunately, capital conquest will typically result in a stale mate, and I think that the game mode needs a rework because stalemates just make it very boring imo.

Progressive Capital Conquest with fog of war makes for some of the most fun games... in one of them I went from almost dead to having over 400 troops and wiping every cap in one turn. Hiding behind a bot helps more than it should...

I am a beginner (or Novice??) at the mobile game, but fairly experienced playing the board game. I have had alot of trouble even just surviving while playing Capital Conquest. But I feel great I just won my first match for that! 😁

I had been weakend severly after a couple of captures, more on account of having to be attacked for a long time by another player. The other player (Red) was pretty agressive and succesful for a long time, took my home Capital. I maneuverd him to fight Purple, and took Reds Capitals, win the game

What about the best placement of your Capitol? What's the most likely ratio of armies to capture a another Capitol? How to defend your own at best?

1) I would say that it is the best to put your capital on a border (like on Brazil territory for example, if you will be going for South America), so the troops you will be adding to that border will work as the troops defending the continent and as a capital both at the same time. Rather than putting your capital somewhere inside of the continent, as then you will not only need to add troops on your capital but on your borders as well, as if you won't be putting your troops to your capital when it could be easily taken by one of the players later on the game; and if you put most of the troops to your capital then your borders will be weak and you won't be able to hold the continent in case you're playing with agressive players, and even if you successfully hold your continent, then it will still be bad, as you won't be able to do with your blocked troops on the capital anything.
2) I'm trying to have at least 3x more troops when attacking capital, but I would avoid attacking capitals at any cost, unless if I see what I can take them really easily, or in case it's necessarily needed, or if I'm really strong and can afford that.
3) The best way to defend your capital is to add all or most of your troops to the capital, and this is why I recommend to pick your capital on one of the borders of the continent you can potentially go for, so it will work as your continent's protection and as a capital both at the same time, plus your troops won't be blocked, meaning that you will be able to do any major attacks in case there's needed one.

But also keep in mind that I cannot really advise much on capitals as basically I don't play with them at all, besides some 1 vs 1 games on Simple World map, but that's another story. Mostly I specify on World Domination 6 player progressive and 4 player fixed. I hate Capital Conquest because unless you're playing with inexperienced, low ranked players, everyone just putting all of their troops to their capital and the game becomes pretty much stalemate... Anyways, I hope I managed to help you at least for a little bit 👍

I tried zero card strategy on the classic game and a supposedly Master rank player took out my 45 troops midgame for my zero cards

That was very stupid of that master. Well, if the only players who were alive is he, you and another opponent, maybe he took you out just to get a 2nd place for rank points if he didn't see ability to overcome another player. Or if there were more people alive then he did really stupidly, but there are some stupid masters. One master took me out for zero cards taking out like 30 or 40 troops just to get a continent in progressive cards game. That continent was invaded by a bot after 2 turns anyways, lololol. Another reason could be is that he is cheater and played with his friend or another account. Cheaters will always kill their opponents first. Or if there was a fixed cards game and was more than 3 players left alive then it's not a big deal to take an opponent out even if you get nothing by doing that as long as the game stays balanced. And I'm not sure if you were building a multiple different armies or one huge one while having zero cards, but it's always the best to put your troops in a one army, it's so much easier to take down smaller armies especially with balanced blitz. I hope I was able to help you somehow, haha 😅😁
