I'm mourning the enslaved
Illucidate
The lyrics of Capsule's song Sepsis seem to touch on a lot of deep and philosophical ideas. The first line, "Nowhere time made our future mistakes present day to end present lifetime" is a reflection on how our mistakes in the past have come to haunt us in the present. The fact that the mistakes were made in "nowhere time" points to the abstract nature of time itself, and how our actions can stretch across it to impact even the present moment. The line "present day to end present lifetime" also speaks to the finality of our current existence, and how our present actions will shape the course of our lives.
The second line, "I'm mourning the enslaved" is a more direct reference to human suffering, specifically that of those who have been oppressed or enslaved. This is a highly emotional and charged phrase, that speaks to the deep empathy and compassion that the singer feels for those who have suffered under oppression. The use of the word "mourning" also suggests a profound sadness and sense of loss, perhaps for the way that the world can be cruel and unjust.
Taken together, the two lines of this song evoke a sense of sorrow, reflection, and a deep empathy for those who have been oppressed. The lyrics of Sepsis suggest that we must confront the mistakes of our past, and work to create a more just and equitable future.
