The part of you that's drifting over me-uh
And when I wake you're--you're never there
And when I sleep you're--you're everywhere
You're everywhere
Just tell me how I got this far
Just tell me why you're here and who you are
You're never there
And every time I sleep
You're always there
'Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I close my eyes it's you I see
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone
I'm not alone
I recognize the way you make me feel
It's hard to think that you might not be real
I sense it now, the water's getting deep
I try to wash the pain away from me
Away from me
'Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I close my eyes it's you I see
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone
I'm not alone
I am not alone
And when I touch your hand
It's then I understand
The beauty that's within
It's now that we begin
You always light my way
I hope there never comes a day
No matter where I go
I always feel you so
'Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I close my eyes it's you I see
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone
'Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I catch my breath
It's you I breathe
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone
You're in everyone I see
So tell me
Do you see me?
The song "Everywhere" by Cara Dillon talks about a person who sees the presence of their loved one in every aspect of their life. The lyrics, "Turn it inside out so I can see, the part of you that's drifting over me", illustrate how the person wishes to understand and see the essence of their loved one more clearly. They also mention how they feel the presence of their loved one even when they are not physically around, as stated in the lyrics "And when I wake you're--you're never there, and when I sleep you're--you're everywhere." The person expresses their confusion about their relationship with their loved one and is seeking clarity, asking, "Just tell me how I got this far, just tell me why you're here and who you are."
The chorus of the song emphasizes how the person's loved one is omnipresent, as they see them even when they close their eyes. The lyrics "You're everything I know, that makes me believe I'm not alone" demonstrate how the presence of their loved one provides solace and comfort in times of loneliness.
The second verse talks about how the person tries to resist the emotional hold that their loved one has over them. They express how it's hard to believe that their loved one might not be real, but they try to "wash the pain away from me."
Overall, "Everywhere" is a heartfelt ballad about the all-encompassing presence of a loved one. It touches on themes of confusion, love, and longing for clarity.
