The music is still there, same with the cars, but instead of paying $2000- $3000 for the cars, today they fetch upwards of 20+ times that today, i wish they still made them like this as well, i would have one, or two..

I would of loved growing up as a teenager in
the Fabulous 50’s . What a life that would of been . Hot rod Car’s , rock n roll and Beautiful women were a part of everyday life . When the family life was as real as it gets . Father worked , mother was a homemaker and children were schooled properly. Everybody was happy about life .

My dad had a brand new 1956 Cadillac Eldorado convertible. Loved that car, Made my first trip to Las Vegas in the back seat 100 + mph I was 10 then. Stayed at the Star Dust!

Man! those concept cars were out of this world⚠️ The '50s' were my favorite decade for cars. Their styling represented the future. Sad to say, we won't be seeing anything of that glamour and quality any more. It is just a sign of the times as we "progress" to "better" things. (sigh).

Its a shame some of these concept cars were never picked up, a company would make a few up, take them round to the big companies of the time and see if there was any interest, as we know these are concept cars for a reason, some were destroyed others were bought by people who would lock them away in their own private collection.

If they could make a 50s car today with modern technology for safety there would be a huge market out there for them, yes they would be a modern reproduction, but it would give people the chance to own something they could never afford..

I saw this site for the first time today, can only echo previous remarks - I was 14 in 1955 & the Fall new car model ads in the newspapers were a big event, lots of friends went around to the different dealers to see all the new styling etc.

When you think how much they cost new, to what they cost today, thats a giant price tag, new back then would cost you $2000 - $3000, today the same car would fetch anything from $60K upwards

@@deborahrohl7690 You chose a great car in the Plymouth Fury, they are a great looking car, it would be my first choice as well, or a Belvedere, very similar, i remember watching a program where they put a brand new Belvedere in a time capsule to be opened in 2007, this was in Tulsa, when they came to unwrapping it, it was clear that it had been sitting in water for a long time, what a shame, it will never be driven as its too fragile..

I was less then 5 ft (much less now) tall and drove one of those DeSoto with long sleek back wings. Still have pictures. My brother had one of the 50's convertable, have a picture with me sitting on the back of the back seat, I was seventeen in the late 50's. Those were the days, music playing and crusing main street. Teens in the 50's, nothing will ever compare to that.

We Americans got RIPPED off! Why? you ask. The era of the 1950's was the era of the "aero plane car styling." After seeing many of the body-styles that COULD'VE been offered to us from the automobile manufacturers, I come to the conclusion that either the body styles were a bit too futuristic for the American public's tastes or else it just was NOT within the budget of the automobile manufacturers to mass produce them. The auto designers best work was on display to the public however many of the futuristic cars were NOT put into production perhaps for budgetary reasons. No doubt, some of the 1950's cars were the cars of the Jet Age(Jetson's). Fins and the bubble top ruled the day. The technology was moving very rapidly and was fabulous. The "BIG 3" were very powerful and so was the US economy. The car's we did receive were BIG glamourous rolling ART on wheels. They were meant to be SEEN and admired. They were stunningly beautiful. This video confirms it. It was an era of glamour and glitz(bling bling) and cheap gasoline prices too(19 to 30 cents/gal). For many Baby Boomers born between 1946-64, it was, "the Happy Days era." Fond memories of your childhood right? Hope you enjoyed these cars when they were brand new.

There are still many of these old cars around, some have been fully restored to look like they did when they came of the factory floor, these cars were huge compared to most cars today, and you would have a hard job parking them for the night, prices back in the 50s ranged from $2400 to $3500, a steal in todays money, but they have stood the test of time and are extremely valuable, some costing over $200,000, some full restoration jobs would cost you that..

So few people could afford the top model because it was far beyond the American families median income. So they would settle for a Buick, Olds or a nice Chevy or Ford, Chrysler or Dodge--about 2 to 4 grand range. Still plenty of bling bling for your buck.

I used to take an extra while home from work several times a week JUST TO DRIVE BY a guy's Alfa Romeo BAT (or Berlina Aerodinamica Tecnica).
It looked like the curled wings of a bat. They were a series of Italian concept cars. The cars originated from a joint collaboration project between Alfa Romeo and the Italian design house Bertone that began in 1953. All three cars were designed by Franco Scaglione. One is shown in this series of montages.

great vid I do have memories as a young child in 2 1970s cars both of 79 model year one was a yellow Cadillac Coupe Deville the other was a Japanese import Toyota Corolla Station wagon loved the caddy though as you could fall asleep in the backseat and not have to worry about being jolted awake by a speed bump/pothole actually the widebody version of the Toyota Camry is similar my recently deceased maternal grandmother had an V20 gen widebody Camry from February 1990 to April 2005 then replaced it with a narrow body xv 30 Camry in Beige/tan which my younger brother drives now my parents have had 3 hyundai's in the past 20 or so years a 2003 Elantra a 2005 Sonata and a 2013 Azera

I don't know 1 car from another! I do love the beauty of these cars, though. When I was very young my mom had a green Studebaker, my Uncle had a teal Thunderbird w spoked wheels, w spare on back. What a beautiful car. All my cousins, even the girls, could identify cars. I couldn't do that, but I appreciate quality anything. My dad, started buying Ramblers in the '60s & he named them! I think my brother still has one he bought when he was 21yrs.old.

I used to gas up at the Arco station @ Lankershim & Riverside where Barris had his shop. I would walk over and see what was going on. When they announced the upcoming Batman TV series I said the futuristic Lincoln (which I made a Revell model of) would make a great Batmobile. I even said paint it black after the comic book car and I'll be damned if that's not exactly what they did.

The cars of the 1950’s were real cars, not the toys they are of today’s cars. My most favorite Chevrolet & Pontiac models from 1955 to 1957 were the Chevrolet Nomad & Pontiac Safari station wagon cousin. My most favorite of the Chrysler Corporation 1957 cars was its DeSoto line. The 1957 to 1959 Fords, Mercury’s & 1959 Edsels were my most favorite from the For Motor Company.

@@OldAgeTeddyboy Oh, I still love the cars of the 50s as well and sometimes people can get the wrong impression that the 60s were just muscle cars being born in 1958 I remember seeing cars as far back as the late 30s but in my lifetime the 60s I thought were the sharpest looking cars out of any decade!. And I still feel as though the British invasion of 1963 and 64 helped save Rock and Roll!. Aside from that there was also alot of bullshit that went on in the 60s as well.

Good stuff! My only question is how did this video not get a copyright strike for the music? If I even whistle a few bars from anyone famous, I get a copyright claim, it gets demonetized, they threaten to ban my channel, and 2 FBI agents show up at my door lol.

That is a very good question, you are the second person to ask this,not on this video, its called research, you cant just take music and put it in a video, but if you find out who owns the copyright they sometimes will allow you to use their music, and thats what takes the time, i dont monetize my channel, i never will, its free.

Now YouTube will put ads into the video at times and this is where the copyright owner makes some money.

This is just a bit of a hobby for me, i enjoy making them, and thats how i do it, a couple of my early videos were completely blocked thats how i learnt about copyright, these make a change from just watching a record spinning on a record player, also finding the pictures to go with the music is time consuming as well, i have a new video out, its called the American Dream Cruisin the 50`s, actually i have 2 new videos, the other is called ..Iconic Cars and Assembly lines of the 50`s.
