Primavera
Carlos Santana Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lluvia de sol
Como Una Bendición
La vida renace con su luz
La primavera ya llego

Todo es así
Regreso a la raíz
Tiempo de inquieta juventud
En primavera ya

La tierra negra se vuelve verde
Y las montanas y el desierto
Un bello jardín

Como la semilla
Lleva nueva vida
Hay en esta primavera una nueva era

En el aire de este nuevo universo
Hoy se respira libertad
En primavera ya

La tierra negra se vuelve verde
Y las montanas y el desierto
Un bello jardín

Como la semilla

Lleva nueva vida
Hay en esta primavera una nueva era

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Carlos Santana's Primavera paint a picture of the arrival of spring and the sense of renewal and rebirth that it brings. The first stanza describes the sun shining through the rain, almost like a blessing. This light brings new life to the world and heralds the arrival of spring. The second stanza encourages us to return to our roots, to remember where we come from and embrace our youth with a sense of restlessness and excitement. The chorus repeats the sentiment that the black earth turns green, the mountains and desert become a beautiful garden, symbolising the miracle of new life.

The third stanza likens this new beginning to a seed that brings forth new life, heralding a new era of growth and possibility. It speaks to the idea that every ending is a new beginning, that there is always a chance to start again. The final stanza is particularly uplifting and underscores the idea that this new season brings with it a newfound sense of freedom and liberation. The chorus is repeated once more, driving home the message that spring brings with it the possibility of growth and change, of new beginnings and endless possibilities.

It's too bad radio stations stuck to two or three "big" songs and didn't play more of this stuff. This is one of my favorite Santana pieces.

This album is all gold!

Classic Rock “consultants” suck.

This song can be heard in any season. In autumn, when the light is less bright, it is a breath of therapeutic energy. Thank you Santana for your joy and your talent !

Best song on the album for sure. The solo is awesome and the ending is one of the best song endings in music history.

I agree with your sentiment, but the whole album showcases his versatility and ability to improvise seamlessly with the genre and style of the artist he worked with for the track.

@moxiox 93 Its true, but this is the best song!, The lyrics are amazing!

This album is the perfect companion to a night spent beachside at a gazebo munching on some tacos while sipping on a margarita while the notes of Santana's sweet blues and latin tinged guitar licks drift along with the breeze that gently blows across you...ahhh...paradise...if only for a few minutes at least

Six-String Steve

I cry every time I hear this song.  Such heart felt vocals and guitar, a sumptuous chord progression, and timeless, primal lyrics.  This deserves to be a classic.
