Santana has was an avenue named after him as well as a statue of a guitar in the city where he was born (born in Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, México) to honour him. The family moved from there to Tijuana In La Calonia Libertad, the city on Mexico's border with California, and then San Francisco, USA. Carlos stayed in Tijuana but joined his family in San Francisco later and graduated from James Lick Middle School and Mission High School there.
Most of his musical career has been spent with Santana, the band he formed in San Francisco in 1967. His music underwent large changes in 1973 when he was introduced to the spiritual leader Sri Chinmoy, by fellow guitarist "Mahavishnu" John McLaughlin. After this he adopted the title "Devadip" which he still uses. In 1998 he formed the Milagro Foundation along with his wife Deborah, which supports disadvantaged children. Later Carlos and Deborah divorced, but the Milagro Foundation is still alive and well.
Other huge influences of Carlos Santana are both Miles Davis (with whom he maintained a big personal connection), and John Coltrane, who unfortunately passed away in 1967.
The Sensitive Kind

Don't misunderstand her or play with her mind
Treat her so gently, it will pay you in time
You've gotta know she's the sensitive kind
Tell her you love her each and every night
You will discover she will treat you right
There ain't nothin' like the sensitive kind
She gets so lonely waitin' for you
You are the only thing to help her through
Don't take her for granted
She has a hard time
You got to know she's the sensitive kind
You got to know she's the sensitive kind
The underlying message in Carlos Santana's The Sensitive Kind is about treating your partner with kindness and empathy. The lyrics suggest that the woman in the song is vulnerable and fragile, and her emotions need to be handled with care. She has had a tough journey, and the singer warns the listener, not to take her for granted, misunderstand or play games with her mind. The song emphasizes that love and affection are essential to maintain a healthy relationship. The idea conveyed is that if you cherish her, you will be rewarded over time. The singer believes that understanding that she is the sensitive kind is the key to the happy relationship.
Santana urges the listener to tell their partner that they love them each and every night, and if they do that, the love will be returned. He further emphasizes that understanding and respecting your partner is crucial for a successful relationship. The woman opens up when she is around her significant other, and she gets lonely when he's not there. Therefore, it is essential to make her feel wanted to support her through her struggles. The Sensitive Kind is reminding everyone to be mindful of their partner and appreciate them for who they are. Communication and love can conquer all, and it's worth investing in a positive and respectful relationship.
