Let's Get Lost
Carly Rae Jepsen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was never one to want to
Put my trust in someone else completely
And I was always one to want to
Up and run when someone said they needed me

But you
You could be the one
You could be the one

Baby, let's go get lost
I like the way you're drivin' slow
Keeping my fingers crossed
That maybe you'll take the long way home
Let's get lost
I don't wanna let you go
Keeping my fingers crossed
That maybe you'll take the long way home, uh, uh, uh, uh

Baby, let's take the long way home

I was always shy and careful
I was sure that you would never look at me
Never wanted to discourage
Everything your eyes encouraged silently

But you
You could be the one
You could be the one

Oh baby, let's go get lost
I like the way you're drivin' slow
Keeping my fingers crossed
That maybe you'll take the long way home
Let's get lost
I don't wanna let you go
Keeping my fingers crossed
That maybe you'll take the long way home, uh, uh, uh, uh

Baby, let's take the long way home, uh, uh, uh, uh
Baby, let's take the long way home

Let's get lost (let's get lost)
You wanna get lost? (you wanna get lost?)
Let's get lost (let's get lost)
I wanna get lost

Oh baby let's go get lost
I like the way you're drivin' slow
Keeping my fingers crossed
That maybe you'll take the long way home
Let's get lost
I don't wanna let you go
Keeping my fingers crossed
That maybe you'll take the long way home, uh, uh, uh, uh

Baby let's take the long way home, uh, uh, uh, uh
Baby let's take the long way home

Overall Meaning

In Carly Rae Jepsen's song "Let's Get Lost," the lyrics express a sense of vulnerability and hesitation that is common in new relationships. The singer reveals that she has always been hesitant to trust someone completely or commit to them, and has typically been quick to run away when things get tough. However, she recognizes that the person she is singing about could be different - they could be the one that she has been searching for.

The chorus expresses a desire to take a chance and get lost with this person. The singer likes the way they are driving slow and is hopeful that they will take the long way home. This is symbolic of the journey that they could take together, one that is full of twists and turns and unexpected detours, but also one that is ultimately rewarding.

The second verse highlights the singer's shyness and lack of self-confidence, but also underscores the power of connection and the way that someone's presence can encourage and inspire us. Overall, the lyrics of "Let's Get Lost" are about taking a risk and trusting someone, even if it is scary or uncertain.

I feel like I see people talk about music that "soars" or something like that but I think this song right here is the absolute epitome of that

@jomi025

One of my favorites from the album! I'm surprised this wasn't released as a single. I'm sure it would've been a hit!

@jerelminter

It's not too late to release it now, just put it in a commercial and millions of people who weren't aware of this song will come flocking to it like a bunch of sheep lol

This album really is my favorite album of created. Its genius and it will always have the best memories of mine attached to it and I love that everyone has a story to it. I’d listen to this song alone or with my friends exploring New York City my freshmen year of college. The sax and the “ooh” vocals together literally is a match mate in heaven

@NoeAlexavvier

I was at the Hedley show in Hamilton, and I can't even explain how great she is live! She is amazing, and I'd definitely see her again. Terrific album, honestly I couldn't begin to stress how splendidly amazing she is and if you get the chance to see her live or if you're a fan of her music you should for sure see her! Ugh, again, such an absolutely amazing job Carly <3. Favourite album by far :D
