The first verse suggests that the person addressing the other wants to be pushed to their limits and held down there. They claim that the other person wouldn't dare to love them in that way. Yeah I agree with you, her best songs are what she's been putting out recently and they're largely ignored mostly because the general public still can't get past her Call Me Maybe image. Guys that was in the past, be happy that song even made you aware of her.
