During the next two decades Carman changed the face of Christian music and evolved contemporary evangelism into what it is today. Carman established "Carman World Outreach," a non-profit organization that helps touch the lives of literally millions of people worldwide. Billboard Magazine recognized Carman's influence in Christian music by first naming him "Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year" in 1990. He has received numerous gold and platinum albums and videos. Even with all this success, the heartbeat of this Champion for Christ continues to beat strong for the souls of people who need Jesus. As an outflow of this passion, Carman had more than 50,000 people attend his "Music for Peace" crusade in Johannesburg, South Africa. These numbers topped the charts as his largest concert crusade ever, until more than 70,000 people packed the legendary Texas Stadium, making it the largest Christian concert in history.
For over 26 years, Carman has entertained, encouraged and preached the Gospel to millions-crossing denominational, cultural and ethnic lines. During this time, he has never compromised the call to take the Gospel to every person.
Carman died on February 16, 2021 (28 days after his 65th birthday) in a Las Vegas hospital, after a series of complications resulting from surgery to repair a hiatal hernia. He was survived by his ex-wife, five stepchildren and ten step-grandchildren.

not afraid to fight
solider of the cross
and children of the light
warrior of righteous with healing in their hands
god’s got an army marching through the lands
Let me hear you war cry haaaaa
Let me hear you war cry haaaaa
We’re a people
with ears to hear and hearts to respond
to spiritual needs of the nation
we’re a showcase of what he’ll do when we are strong
in Jesus to a whole generation
The world won’t be the same tomorrow
because we’re here today
the kingdom of hell is gonna feel sorrow
because our war cry is worship and praise
God’s got an army
not afraid to fight
solider of the cross
and children of the light
warrior of righteous with healing in their hands
god’s got an army marching through the lands
Let me hear you war cry haaaaa
Let me hear you war cry haaaaa
The apostle and profits are speaking forth
flames of revival they are burning
like old Joshua went marching out to possess
there’s no way our minds will be turning
There joy in the battle so we commence
to change this nation course
the kingdom of god suffering violence
and the violent take it by force (take it by force)
God’s got an army
not afraid to fight solider of the cross
and children of the light
warrior of righteous with healing in their hands
god’s got an army marching through the lands
Let me hear

This means war man
I’m a soldier (in the army of the lord)
I’m a soldier (in the army of the lord)
I’m a soldier (in the army of the lord)
I’m a soldier (in the army of the lord)
We’re not afraid to stand and fight
(We’re not afraid to stand and fight)
We cast out demons left and right
(We cast out demons left and right)
We’re strong in battle strong in prayer
(We’re strong in battle strong in prayer)
We tell Satan get out of here

The song "God's Got An Army" by Carman is a spiritual battle cry that speaks of Christians who are not afraid to fight against evil forces that threaten to destroy them. The lyrics refer to these Christians as soldiers, warriors of righteousness, and children of the light who possess the power of healing in their hands. They are part of God's army, marching through the lands to fight against the kingdom of hell. The song encourages the listeners to raise their voices in a "war cry" of worship and praise to God, who empowers them to overcome evil.
The second verse portrays Christians as a people who are sensitive to the spiritual needs of their nation. They respond to these needs with faith and courage, showcasing the power of God to a whole generation. The apostles and prophets are portrayed as speakers of revival, burning with the flames of the Holy Spirit. The song alludes to the biblical account of Joshua, who went marching out to possess the Promised Land without turning his mind towards the obstacles ahead.
The chorus repeats the idea that God's army is not afraid to fight, and that they possess the power of righteousness and healing. The bridge encourages Christians to be strong in battle and prayer, and to tell Satan to leave them alone. The song ends with a series of affirmations that the listeners are soldiers in the army of the Lord, strong and fearless in their fight against the forces of darkness.
