During the next two decades Carman changed the face of Christian music and evolved contemporary evangelism into what it is today. Carman established "Carman World Outreach," a non-profit organization that helps touch the lives of literally millions of people worldwide. Billboard Magazine recognized Carman's influence in Christian music by first naming him "Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year" in 1990. He has received numerous gold and platinum albums and videos. Even with all this success, the heartbeat of this Champion for Christ continues to beat strong for the souls of people who need Jesus. As an outflow of this passion, Carman had more than 50,000 people attend his "Music for Peace" crusade in Johannesburg, South Africa. These numbers topped the charts as his largest concert crusade ever, until more than 70,000 people packed the legendary Texas Stadium, making it the largest Christian concert in history.
For over 26 years, Carman has entertained, encouraged and preached the Gospel to millions-crossing denominational, cultural and ethnic lines. During this time, he has never compromised the call to take the Gospel to every person.
Carman died on February 16, 2021 (28 days after his 65th birthday) in a Las Vegas hospital, after a series of complications resulting from surgery to repair a hiatal hernia. He was survived by his ex-wife, five stepchildren and ten step-grandchildren.
His Mercy Endures Forever
Carman Lyrics

And you've lost some ground.
You′ve fallen again, and you feel so condemned,
'Til it's brought you down.
If your sin has dimmed the Spirit′s light,
There′s forgiveness through the blood of Christ,
He'll restore your torn and shattered life,
That′s the reason I can say...
′Cause His mercy endures forever.
Though troubles wont cease, yet my mind is at peace,
'Cause His mercy endures forever.
That′s why I'll praise Him, praise Him. praise Him,
With all that is in me, as we walk together.
Forever more, I'll be assured,
That His mercy endures forever.
His mercy endures forever.
His mercy endures forever.
That′s why I′ll praise Him, praise Him. praise Him,
With all that is in me, as we walk together.
Forever more, I'll be assured,
That His mercy, endures...
His mercy endures forever.
In the song "His Mercy Endures Forever" by Carman, the lyrics speak about the power of forgiveness and redemption through the blood of Christ. The opening lines speak to the idea of holding one's walk on the shelf and losing ground, which could be interpreted as feeling disconnected from one's faith and beliefs. It goes on to suggest that when a person falls and feels condemned, it can lead to a spiral that feels impossible to break out of. However, the song emphasizes that even if a person's sin has dimmed the light of the Spirit, forgiveness is possible through the mercy of Christ. The lyrics express confidence that those who have fallen can have their lives restored and mended through His mercy.
The chorus speaks to the idea that even though troubles may persist, the singer's mind is at peace because of the enduring mercy of God. It emphasizes that praising God with all that is in us is a way to walk together with Him and be assured of His mercy forever. The lyrics repeat the phrase "His mercy endures forever," anchoring the message and underscoring the idea that no matter what, God's mercy is a constant and unwavering force.
Overall, the song is a comforting reminder to those who have struggled and fallen that they are not alone, and that there is hope and redemption through the grace of God. It speaks to the power of faith and the peace that can come from trusting in a higher power.
