Heading down fools road
Heading, heading
Heading down fools road
People say that you're no good for me, no
They tell me there's no one blinder than a woman who just won't see
But let them talk you know that I don't care
Now I'm heading, heading
Down a fools road
Yes I'm heading, heading
Down a fools road
They say there's no way I can keep from getting hurt
My feelings have no importance to you cause you're just a flirt
I'll ignore that and take the smooth with the rough
Cause even if I'm a fool you're love is sweet enough
Oooh I'm heading, heading
Down a fools road
Heading, heading
Down a fools road
Heading, Yes I'm heading
Down a fools road
Heading, Yes I'm heading
Down a fools road
So the road to your love is the direction I'm gonna take
I'll ignore the danger signs that point towards heartbreak
Without you heere my very soul will ache
The fools road has to be the path I'm gonna take
I'm heading, heading
Down a fools road
Yes I'm heading, heading, heading
Down a fools road
Baby I though I had a man to stand by my side
Here I am all alone I'm just about to cry
I'm heading, heading, heading
Down a fools road
The lyrics of Carol Woods's song "Heading Down Fools Road" speak to a person who is fully aware of the warnings and criticisms from others regarding a toxic relationship but chooses to ignore them. The person acknowledges the opinion that they are making a foolish choice in pursuing this love, but they are willing to take the risks and face the consequences. They recognize that people say their partner is not good for them and that they may end up getting hurt, but they also express a sense of defiance and determination.
The lyrics reflect a strong attachment to the person they are in love with, describing the feeling of being in their arms as exhilarating and likening it to flying through the air. Despite the potential for heartbreak, the individual is willing to overlook the doubts and perceive the sweetness in their partner's love. They feel that their own feelings and well-being are disregarded by their partner, who is seen as a flirt. Regardless, they choose to focus on the positive aspects and embrace the path of the "fools road" as the only option for their soul not to ache.
Overall, the song portrays a person fully aware of the risks and criticisms but choosing to follow their heart and take their chances with a relationship that may not be the wisest choice.
