King's major success began in the 1960s when she and her first husband, Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits, many of which have become standards, for numerous artists. She has continued writing for other artists since then. King's success as a performer in her own right did not come until the 1970s, when she sang her own songs, accompanying herself on the piano, in a series of albums and concerts. After experiencing commercial disappointment with her debut album Writer, King scored her breakthrough with the album Tapestry, which topped the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks in 1971 and remained on the charts for more than six years.
King has made 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry, which held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years. Her record sales were estimated at more than 75 million copies worldwide. She has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She has been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a performer and songwriter. She is the recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first woman to be so honored. She is also a 2015 Kennedy Center Honoree.

So Many Ways
Carole King Lyrics

So many ways to show you love someone
So many ways
So many ways to show someone
You care
We have so much in common
Although we come from places worlds apart
Without a word you say, I love you
You're beautiful
You are in my heart
So many ways
So many ways to show you love someone
So many ways
So many ways to show someone
You care
Since I've been spending all my time with you
You've taught me something new every day
And I just want to say
The music comes from you and me
And it's plain to see that we both know
So many ways
So many ways to show you love someone
So many ways
So many ways to show someone
You care
Carole King's song "So Many Ways" is a love song that describes the many ways one can express love and care for someone. The song begins by stating that there are numerous ways to show love to someone, and repeats this idea throughout the whole song. King then emphasizes the deep connection between the two individuals by acknowledging their differences but also highlighting what they have in common. The song highlights that the smallest physical gestures like reaching out to touch someone's hand without saying anything can convey affection and warmth, indicating the strength of their emotional bond. King is also saying that expressing love extends beyond just physical affection, it can be found in the everyday moments spent together building new experiences and mutual understanding.
Carole King uses the power of music to express love and care, noting that their shared experiences resonate in the music they create together. The duo acknowledges that their relationship is more than just physical attraction, it is also found in their shared interests, passions, and goals. Knowing this, King uses the power of music to further build that bond, noting that the music they create comes from both of them. The line "so many ways to show someone you care" feels like a reminder that love comes in different forms, and being aware of those forms can help express love to anyone they encounter.
