Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow
Carole King Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tonight, you're mine, completely
You give your love so sweetly
Tonight, the light of love is in your eyes
But will you love me tomorrow?

Is this a lasting treasure
Or just a moment's pleasure
Can I believe the magic of your sighs
Will you still love me tomorrow?

Tonight, with words unspoken
You say that I'm the only one
But will my heart be broken
When the night (when the night)
Meets the morning sun?

I'd like to know that your love
Is love I can be sure of
So tell me now and I won't ask again

Will you still love me tomorrow?
Will you still love me tomorrow?

Overall Meaning

Carole King's song "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" was released in 1960 and has since become a classic love song. The lyrics explore the uncertainty and vulnerability that comes with falling in love and wondering if that love will last.

The opening lines, "Tonight you're mine completely, you give your love so sweetly," suggest that the singer is enjoying the present moment of being in love. However, the chorus questions the future of the relationship: "Will you still love me tomorrow?" The singer is unsure if this love will be a lasting treasure or just a momentary pleasure.

The second verse reveals that the singer has had a conversation with their partner that suggests they are the only one. But the singer wonders if this is just a temporary feeling that will disappear with the morning light. The final lines, "I'd like to know that your love is love I can be sure of. So tell me now and I won't ask again, will you still love me tomorrow?" highlight the singer's desire for reassurance that this love will endure.

Overall, the song speaks to the universal experience of falling in love and the uncertainty that comes with it. The melody and the lyrics have allowed this song to become a timeless classic.

This is one of my mom’s favorite songs. I remember her sharing this to me when she first got a copy of Tapestry - we were in our new house after leaving my dad’s abusive nature. We had few furniture and clothes but i didn’t really notice it at the time. Shes very hardworking and gave us the most wonderful childhood we could ever have. I cant wait to see her again after her quarantine 😭 i miss you mom

Saw her live in concert in 1987. I was expecting my eldest son at the time. He came in my room recently and asked where he had heard this song before...I had never played it for him!!!
