Carpathian Forest played their first concert in 1998 at the Quart Festival, Kristiansand Norway supporting Immortal and Satyricon. This saw the introduction of Vrangsinn. A short studio session followed, with Tchort and Kobro being made permanent members. The following EP was called He's Turning Blue, followed by the albums Strange Old Brew and Morbid Fascination of Death - these were both recorded at the same time and were produced by Terje Refsnes at Sound Suite studio in Sandnes. Nordavind left the band after this studio session due to personal issues with Tchort being promoted to guitarist. Vrangsinn was promoted to bass, and Blood Pervertor to keyboard duties for following sessions and tours.[1]
With this lineup, the band recorded their fourth album, Defending the Throne of Evil, released by Season of Mist. This album was the first to feature symphonic sounds, as witnessed with "It's Darker than You Think". The album was generally well-received.
The following year, Carpathian Forest made two releases - We're Going to Hollywood for This, a live DVD, the title of which was a play on their compilation album We're Going to Hell for This, and another compilation entitled Skjend Hans Lik, which featured many new tracks, as well as some remastered ones from Bloodlust and Perversion.
The band's most recent release was in 2006, with Fuck You All!!!!, an album which has similar structures to Black Shining Leather.
The band last played live at the Inferno Festival in 2009, and confirmed rumors that a new album was in the works.

Sadomasochistic
Carpathian Forest Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
you disbehave.
Underneath the whip
to soothe the beast
Burn a candle from my soul,
for I will never do the same.
Cause I see beauty in another things
Kneel before me
and shine my shoes.
I give you much
but you want more
I am the long arm of unforgivingness.
Beholder of all chains.
This tool of great destruction.
This life of feces and filth.
Pick up your teeth with broken fingers.
Lick the blood of your cracked lips.
The colour purple seems to fit you
Bow down...
The song "Sadomasochistic" by Carpathian Forest is a very graphic and vivid representation of a BDSM relationship. The lyrics describe a scenario where the dominant partner is whipping and piercing their submissive partner, who then misbehaves, and it seems like the situation takes pleasure in degrading and hurting the submissive. The lyrics further suggest that the submissive enjoys the pain and takes pleasure in the suffering, and the dominant partner uses it as a way to tame the beast within. The contrast between the beauty and the beast is expressed, where the submissive sees the beauty in things, and the dominant partner represents the beast.
The dominant partner is depicted as very powerful and unforgiving, represented by the "long arm of unforgivingness" and "beholder of all chains." The relationship is described as being a "life of feces and filth," suggesting that it is dirty and taboo. The lyrics also describe a scenario where the submissive is kneeling and shining the dominant's shoes, suggesting that the submissive is subservient and willing to do whatever the dominant desires.
Overall, the song presents a very intense and graphic representation of BDSM that may not be suitable for everyone. It demonstrates the power dynamics between a dominant and a submissive partner and further emphasizes that this kind of relationship involves a great deal of trust and communication.
