Undo It
Carrie-Underwood Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Should've known by the way you pass me by
There was something in your eyes
And it wasn't right
I should've walked but I never had the chance
Everything got out of hand and I let it slide
Now I only have myself to blame
For falling for your stupid games
I wish my life could be the way it was before I saw your face

You stole my happy
You made me cry
You took the lonely and took me for a ride
And I wanna un un un un undo it
You had my heart now I want it back
I'm starting to see everything you lack
Boy you blew it
You put me through it
I wanna un un un un undo it
Na na na na na
Na na na na na
Na na na na na na

Now your photos don't have a picture frame
And I never say your name and I never will
And all your things well I threw them in the trash
And I'm not even sad
Now you only have yourself to blame
For playing all those stupid games
You're always gonna be the same
Oh no you'll never change

You stole my happy
You made me cry
You took the lonely and took me for a ride
And I wanna un un un un undo it
You had my heart now I want it back
I'm starting to see everything you lack
Boy you blew it
You put me through it
I wanna un un un un undo it
Na na na na na
Na na na na na
Na na na na na na

You want my future you can't have it
Still trying to erase you from my past
I need you gone so fast

You stole my happy
You made me cry
You took the lonely and took me for a ride
And I wanna un un un un undo it
You had my heart now I want it back
I'm starting to see everything you lack
Boy you blew it
You put me through it
I wanna un un un un undo it

You stole my happy
You made me cry
You took the lonely and took me for a ride
Boy you blew it

You put me through it
I wanna un un un un undo it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Carrie Underwood's song "Undo It" narrate the story of a woman who fell for a guy who only played games with her heart. She regrets not being able to walk away from him when she suspected something was off. Everything spun out of control, and she let it slide until everything fell apart. She blames herself for being foolish enough to fall for his stupid games. The relationship stole her happiness and made her cry; he took her for a ride she wishes she could undo. The woman threw away all his things and erased him from her life despite never wanting to hear his name again. She ends the song with a determination to remove him from her memory and take back her heart.

in my experience in life so far if someone says that they hate country chances are they ain't never really heard country, lol.

the new traditionalists and class of 1989 changed everything about public perception of country music in so many ways.

they got praised for reviving traditional country music from the world war 2 and post war era that extended back to the pre-war era/1930s and yet at the same time they had a passion for music that was unique and brought in some rock and pop influences/showed that could exist in country as well. they could also still swing and twang with the best of them.

artists like carrie underwood are kind of the new generation of that, continuing what artists like reba mcintire and martina mcbride were already doing, yet still all their own too.

i love uptempo country. artists like marty stuart and carlene carter often get labeled as new country or get put down but yet traditionalists and historians will tell you they are actually continuing on long standing traditions in country.

so many people put country down thinking its just soft and slow or melancholy/sad or grandparents music or whatever put-downs they come up with.

they're flat out wrong.

kid rock in many ways is a country act more then a rock act at times

taylor swift broke into the business as a country act and her two recent folk albums are a return to that but a different part of country then she used to do but still country

miranda lambert and carrie underwood are country as you can get

so many types of music started/branched off from country and Appalachian music/traditions its not even funny

country music was the original dance/dance hall music and many types of dance music sprang off from it

rock itself has roots/origins in country

no one does a revenge/kiss my ass/buzz off/tell them off kind of song like a country artist can do it, plain and simple, before he cheats by carrie underwood is a case in point as is kerosene by miranda lambert as well as her song crazy ex girlfriend. i mean really "forget your high society, i'm soakin' it in kerosene!" :D ♥coming out of no where out of a young girl/woman's mouth unexpectedly.

and part of the reason this song got so popular, is because a country girl will totally do something like that if you so much as irk/upset her never mind cheat on her, don't cross a country girl plain and simple unless you're a masochist or something or enjoy being punished, which still won't work as the girl will figure that out about you most likely even if you never tell her or show it around her, and she will just find a new way to punish you by making you wait/think or not doing anything at all knowing you wanted to be punished so she won't. you can't win against a country girl or woman so don't bother even trying, you will lose, you will lose handily, and the embarassment will be epic on some level pretty much guaranteed, lol.

destroying an entire brand new prized pick up trick for being cheated on is relatively comparatively mild/tame on the scale of country girl retribution/revenge believe it or not, they are known to do something like that for far less or sometimes even for perceived offenses/slights.
