Mama's Song
Carrie Underwood Lyrics
Mama you taught me to do the right things
So now you have to let your baby fly
You've given me everything that I will need
To make it through this crazy thing called life
And I know you watch me grow up
And only want what's best for me
And I think I found the answer
To your prayers
He treats your little girl like a real man should
He is good, so good, he makes promises he keeps
No he's never gonna leave
So don't you worry about me
Don't you worry about me
Mama there's no way you'll ever lose me
And giving me away is not goodbye
As you watch me walk down to my future,
I hope tears of joy are in your eyes
'Cause he is good, so good
And he treats your little girl like a real man should
He is good, so good, he makes promises he keeps
No he's never gonna leave
So don't you worry about me
Don't you worry about me
And when I watch my baby grow up
I'll only want what's best for her
And I hope she'll find the answer to my prayers
And that she'll say
He is good, so good
And he treats your little girl like a real man should
He is good, so good, he makes promises he keeps
No he's never gonna leave
So don't you worry about me
Don't you worry about me
Mama don't you worry about me
Don't you worry about me

When my friend's sister got married in 1993, their Mom walked Tracy down the aisle. Their Dad had left them years ago. Unfortunately, the marriage didn't last, but Tracy has 2 adult kids.

This made me so sad . When I was a little girl my mother was a single mom & my dad split when I was 4… no child support no birthday or Xmas presents…nothing. Anyway i watched her struggle and try to hold down three jobs and take care of my grandma on top of it all. I told her once (I think I was in 3rd grade) I said mommy I won’t leave you ever! She just smiled & said I would leave home one day & have a husband and babies and that was the way it was meant to be. I remember feeeling so sad because I would never have the experience of having a doting dad to walk me down the isle and mama without hesitation said “baby, if I have to put on a damn tuxedo myself I will walk you down the isle!” She died in 04 when I was barely 21. I was so broken and still am. I married in 06 and you know i felt cheated it wasn’t fair that she never got that opportunity. Now looking back I realize she wanted to prove to me that we never needed him. She had to be mom & dad & she did! There’s no way in hell I could do what she did.
