IMAGINATION
Carroll Spinney/Fran Brill/Frank Oz/Jerry Nelson/Jim Henson Lyrics

Right in the middle of my head,
I close my eyes and my home isn't home,
And my bed isn't really my bed.
I look inside and discover things,
That are sometimes strange and new,
And the most remarkable thoughts I think,
Here in the middle of imagination
Right in the middle of my mind,
I close my eyes and the night isn't dark
And the things that I lose, I find.
Time stands still and the night is clear,
And the wind is warm and fair,
And the nicest place is the middle of imagination
When ... I'm ... there ...
The song "Imagination" is a whimsical and introspective tune that speaks to the power of the human mind to create and imagine. The first verse speaks of the ability to close one's eyes and enter into a world of imagination where things are not what they seem. The singer describes how their home and bed are not what they appear to be when they enter into their own mind. This speaks to the idea that our imagination can take us away from our everyday realities and allow us to see things in a new and profound way.
The second verse speaks to the sense of discovery that comes from diving into one's own imagination. The singer describes how they are able to find new and strange things in their mind. They also speak to the idea that the thoughts we have in our imagination can be just as real and true as the thoughts we have in the "real" world. This speaks to the power of the human mind to create its own reality.

It’s time to face the music it’s time to dim the light,
It’s time Stab the few things you love in your life,
It’s time to introduce him, it’s time to sell out right,
It’s time to undersell the muppet show tonight
Our show tonight would feature, someone edgy and cool
But we’re all far too scripted and aimed at teaching schools
So we’ve just sold our business to an evil guy
Who likes to buy up Business
That’s inspirational, sensational muppetstional
It’s now time to sell out the muppet show!!!!!

Ironic that the thing solidifying him as not just "the theme park guy" is a video about how Jim Henson solidified puppets as not just being for kids.

Good god, that Muppet pitch has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Its desperation is just so real. Henson was really a genius.

I legitimately had to stop the video I was laughing so hard XD
The bit with god smiling down and giving 40% to kermit in the badly repainted Renaissance piece killed me.

Really! One thing about the muppets programming was that the storylines always involved seeing backstage and trying to get shows approved and then instantly having the old guys review. It’s insanely self aware and 4th wall breaking in a way that’s completely unique to the muppets
