Luckie St.
Cartel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Til winter comes our way
We're all tired and ready to breathe
And there's a rumor that there's
A bitter cold chill in the air
It's haunting every breath we take
The hint of alcohol and nicotine
It keeps us warm inside
The sweaters unfold themselves
We are all alone
But we're better off by ourselves
it's time to roll the windows down
And feel the cold air all around
We are heading out of town
And not a thing can stop us now
Get carried away
Let's think about
All those nights on Luckie st.
We stayed up til 3 am
With all the gossip and the latest girls
There's a bitter cold chill in the air
It's haunting every breath we take
The hint of alcohol and nicotine
It keeps us warm inside
So all your fashion sense aware
The sweaters unfold themselves
We are all alone
But we're better off by ourselves
This winter is much like all the rest
This season's changed
Since we've been away
The lyrics to Cartel's "Luckie St." depict a sense of weariness and a longing for change. The song begins by counting the days until winter approaches, with the suggestion of the cold air being a refreshing change. However, the haunting nature of this cold chill permeates every breath they take, indicating that there might be a sense of foreboding associated with it.
Despite the cold, the lyrics suggest comfort found in "alcohol and nicotine" that can keep them warm inside. Mental escape seems to be an important theme as they mention fashion sense and being better off by themselves. The song's refrain mentions their nights spent on Luckie St. caught up in gossip and girls, with the same bitter chill making an appearance in every breath they take.
Overall, the song portrays a longing for change and escapism coupled with the weariness caused by the repetition of the season's cycle.
