The young duo’s air-tight harmonies reflect a wide range of musical influences, including everyone from Rascal Flatts, Brooks & Dunn and Keith Urban; to John Mayer, the Everly Brothers and Gavin DeGraw. Songwriting comes naturally to the twins, who easily finish each other’s thoughts and benefit from a little brotherly competition.
In 2008, the Carter Twins scored a chance meeting with an MTV executive in Los Angeles, who ultimately led them to CMT. The brothers recently completed high school and moved to Nashville to pursue their music career full-time under the development of CMT Music and Meteor 17. Now 19 years old, Joshua Scott Carter and Zachary Edward Carter are settling into their new Nashville digs, and spent the summer working with some of Music City’s best songwriters and crafting as many as 80 songs in just six months.
Their first single, “Heart Like Memphis,” is quickly drawing an audience online and rising at radio. The song, written by Blair Daly, Ashley Gorley and Lee Miller, is already on CMT, CMT.com, iTunes and Rhapsody.
“We get asked a lot what the meaning behind Memphis is, and it’s really open to interpretation,” says Zach. “We’ve enjoying hearing what our fans think it means. To us, it’s at story about a girl who has gone through some tough times, but it makes her a stronger person in the end.”
Under the helm of Frank Rogers, Billboard magazine’s 1 country producer, the Carter Twins are working on their debut album for an anticipated release in Summer 2009.

I'm fallin' for a small town southern girl,
She's got me goin' where I told myself I'd never go,
Oh, I really oughta play it cool,
Or maybe I'm just loves fool
Chorus:
And if I'm right, If it's real,
If she's really mine to steal,
Then so what,
I don't need to worry about anything, but how she's makin' me feel so fine,
She's a rush that I wanna know all the time,
And all I gotta say about everything else,
Is so what
Verse 2:
Collected a long long list of reasons,
Tryin' to justify why I should cut and run,
Without gettin' into where I've been,
I don't want another here we go again
(echo: I don't want another here we go again)
Chorus:
If I'm right, If it's real,
If she's really mine to steal,
Then so what,
I don't need to worry about anything, but how she's makin' me feel so fine,
She's a rush that I wanna know all the time,
And all I gotta say about everything else,
Is so what
Verse 3:
Something's tellin' me (echo: tellin' me),
She's the antecdote to all this lonely,
The only one that keeps me holdin' on
Chorus:
If I'm right, If it's real,
If she's really mine to steal,
Then so what,
I don't need to worry about anything, but how she's makin' me feel so fine,
She's a rush that I wanna know all the time,
And all I gotta say about everything else (echo: everything else),
If it ain't about the girl than everything else,
Is so what
So what
So whaaaaaaaaat
The Carter Twins' song "So What" tells the story of a man who has fallen in love with a small-town girl from the South. Despite his reservations and fears, he cannot help but be drawn to her, and he wonders if he is a fool for feeling this way. He acknowledges that he has a long list of reasons why he should leave, but he cannot deny the way she makes him feel. Something tells him that she is the antidote to his loneliness and the only one who can keep him holding on. In the end, he decides that nothing else matters but his love for her, and he declares that "so what" to anything else that might stand in their way.
The lyrics of "So What" describe the ups and downs of falling in love and the struggle to overcome one's fears and doubts. The song is relatable to anyone who has experienced the joys and sorrows of romantic love. The chorus is particularly catchy and uplifting, encouraging listeners to embrace their feelings and enjoy the moment rather than worrying about the future.
