Something About You
Cary Brothers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That a love carved out of caring
Fashioned by fate could suffer so hard from the games played once too often
But making mistakes is a part of life's imperfection
Born of the years
Is it so wrong to be human after all?
Drawn into the stream of undefined illusion
They can't disguise the truth
That there is something about you baby so right
I wouldn't be here without you baby tonight
If ever our love was concealed
No one can say that we didn't feel a million things
And a perfect dream of life
Gone, fragile but free
We remain tender together
If not so in love, it's not so wrong
We're only human after all
These changing years
They add to your confusion
Oh and you need to hear the time that told the truth
Because there's something about you baby so right
I wouldn't be here without you baby tonight
The lyrics of Cary Brothers's "Something About You" explore the complexity of love and relationships. The singer reflects on how love, which is meant to be based on caring and fate, can sometimes suffer from being played as a game. Mistakes, however, are a natural part of life and human imperfection, and it's wrong to expect perfection from ourselves or others. The singer is attracted to someone who, despite their flaws, is "something about you baby so right." This person's "diamond dreams" cannot conceal the truth about them and the connection between the two. The love between them may be fragile, but they are still tender together. The singer acknowledges that love is not always perfect but that they wouldn't be where they are without this person.
The lyrics are thought-provoking, as they explore the nuances of relationships and love. The message seems to be that love is complicated, and the imperfection and human nature involved can make it difficult, but it's still worth it. The song's soothing melody and emotional delivery add to the contemplative mood of the lyrics.

I knew I had heard an amazing cover of this song somewhere! I've been searching for it all day and finally found it (hard to find this for some reason). Having now listened to dozens of others, I can confirm this is the best cover of this song.

I love this cover so much. This song brings back that 80's feeling and that's a time I truly miss. The 80's life was so different. Last of privacy I guess. Freedom! Happy! Fun! Magical!
Keith Forster
Totally agree. It was a time of freedom and happiness. Compared to today’s repressed feeling and feeling like you can’t open your mouth without putting your foot in it. I also agree that the song is a great cover of a great song.
