SHAKE IT
Casanovas Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well you stood downtown on my street
You got the shakes from your head to your feet
I was just gonna say, but I won't anyway
Word up, damn straight, I'll take it
Ooh, you just gotta shake it

You move like the crack of a whip
And you slide your tongue on your lips
And I don't wanna go if you don't wanna know
Word up, damn straight, I'll take it
Ooh, you just gotta shake it

I was just gonna say, but I won't anyway
Word up, damn straight, I'll take it
Ooh, you just gotta shake it

Ooh yeah
Mmm yeah
Shake it, shake it
Ooh come on baby just shake it, shake it, shake it
Ooh shake it, shake it, shake it
Aww yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
Oooh c'mon, shake it, shake it

Aww yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
Oooh c'mon!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Casanovas' song "Shake It" depict a man who is entranced by a woman's movement and energy as he observes her on the street. The song begins with the woman standing downtown and shaking with nervous energy from her head down to her feet. The singer is clearly attracted to her, saying that he was about to say something to her, but decides against it. He conveys a blunt message that he is interested in her and is willing to pursue her, using the phrases "word up" and "damn straight" to signify his resoluteness. The chorus emphasizes the woman's powerful physical presence, likening her movements to the crack of a whip and the slide of her tongue on her lips.

As the song progresses, the singer reaffirms his interest in a more overt manner, saying he doesn't want to leave if the woman doesn't want him to. He expresses his attraction through language, repeating the same phrases used in the chorus to communicate his desire. The song repeatedly emphasizes the concept of "shaking it" as a way to convey the woman's excitability and sensuality.

Overall, the lyrics of "Shake It" are straightforward, detailing the singer's attraction to a woman based on her physical presence and energy. The repetition of key phrases in the lyrics emphasizes the singer's fixation on the woman.

The Casanovas don't sound much like AC/DC when you analyse it intelligently.
That's a myth that's been perpetuated by 'lazy minded punters' who heard an ignorant journalist make the claim very early in the Band's existence.
They are the same 'lazy minded punters' that claim that Adam & The Ants are a 'One Hit Wonder'
I can name at least 6 Hit songs they had in Australia alone.
The same 'lamebrain & lazy minded punters' that claim Flock of Seagulls were 'One Hit Wonders' yet they had at least 3 charting Hit songs in Australia.
I bought the 12" vinyl record of "Space Age Love Song" & the 7" vinyl of "Wishing"

The same 'lamebrain & lazy minded punters' that claim Status Quo only play 3 chords, when QUO actually play multiple chords and are two of the most versatile & talented Guitarists to walk the Planet.

I think The Casanovas sound far more creative and diverse than any of the Bands that they've been influenced by.
At the very least there's 3-5% AC/DC, some ZZ Top, KIss, Ted Nugent,
Rose Tattoo, Status Quo, Motorhead, Turbo Negro, Cheap Trick etc.

"The Casanovas Influences Aren’t Quite What They Seem"

Whereas the above mentioned Bands deviate from what sounds good and effective, The Casanovas stay on track and don't change the necessary ingredients.
