Beginning violin lessons at the age of 8, Stratton followed quickly with cello lessons at 10, the piano at 11, and guitar at 16. It was through the piano that Stratton discovered a passion for writing and performing songs. After moving to Los Angeles in 1995, Casey signed with Magic Records. Work then began on the recordings that would eventually become his first full-length release, The Giver and the Grave Digger, which was released in 1996.
In 1997, after deciding not to renew his contract with Magic Records, Stratton began his first self-produced album, Lily Sleeps.
In the summer of 2000 Stratton moved to Chicago where he began a nearly two year hiatus from the record industry. He immersed himself in writing and recorded an independent album called The Winter Children. Many of these tracks would be re-recorded later and included on his Sony release Standing at the Edge.
Stratton's 6th studio album, "DIVIDE", was released in October 2005 on Stratton's independent label, Sleeping Pill Music. His next album, The Crossing, was released in April 2007. This was followed by Orbit, digitally released on February 5, 2008.
Memories and Photographs was released in September 2009, followed by A Winter Moon, an album of holiday music, in December 2009. Casey's next project, Myth & Stars, largely based on Greek Mythology, was released on September 21, 2010.
Blood

You could turn back
But this is all you are now
Not even as much as a grain of sand
You're finally nothing
Heat-seeking bomb in my hand
Bring me my asylum band
Now it's your turn to float
And you remind me of my sanity doctor
Teleport me out of your design
This is fear - Welcome to my little flood
And now - give me a little of your blood
I can remember the pain
My river of red that would eventually stain me
Now it's your turn to swim
Open your latitude line - let me in
Yes it's time to go
Time to drain you down
Time to let those fears come to the surface
In Casey Stratton's song "Blood", he reflects on the pain and trauma inflicted by someone who once had power over him. The opening lines of the song immediately set the tone of regret and helplessness as the person who once had control over him is now nothing, not even as much as a grain of sand. This shift in power is further emphasized in the lines, "You put the knife to my throat, now it's your turn to float." Here, he is envisioning that the same tormentor who once caused him pain is now the one floating away, feeling the weight of their actions.
Throughout the song, we see Casey struggling with his own demons, trying to find a way to cope with the pain and trauma he has experienced. He feels as if he needs to get back what was taken from him by asking for a little of his tormentor's blood. He is seeking revenge or closure for the hurt he has been caused. This is made even more explicit with the lines, "Yes it's time to go, time to drain you down, time to let those fears come to the surface." Here, he's signaling that it's time for him to confront the person who caused him pain and to let them feel some of what he had to go through.
The chorus, "This is fear - Welcome to my little flood", signals the tumultuous emotions of the song. Casey is unleashing a storm of emotions and feelings that have long been bottled inside and has finally decided to confront his abuser. This realization is a powerful moment in the song as he takes the first step to face his past by seeking retribution.
