Beginning violin lessons at the age of 8, Stratton followed quickly with cello lessons at 10, the piano at 11, and guitar at 16. It was through the piano that Stratton discovered a passion for writing and performing songs. After moving to Los Angeles in 1995, Casey signed with Magic Records. Work then began on the recordings that would eventually become his first full-length release, The Giver and the Grave Digger, which was released in 1996.
In 1997, after deciding not to renew his contract with Magic Records, Stratton began his first self-produced album, Lily Sleeps.
In the summer of 2000 Stratton moved to Chicago where he began a nearly two year hiatus from the record industry. He immersed himself in writing and recorded an independent album called The Winter Children. Many of these tracks would be re-recorded later and included on his Sony release Standing at the Edge.
Stratton's 6th studio album, "DIVIDE", was released in October 2005 on Stratton's independent label, Sleeping Pill Music. His next album, The Crossing, was released in April 2007. This was followed by Orbit, digitally released on February 5, 2008.
Memories and Photographs was released in September 2009, followed by A Winter Moon, an album of holiday music, in December 2009. Casey's next project, Myth & Stars, largely based on Greek Mythology, was released on September 21, 2010.
Violet Room

From your violet sky I close my eyes
Somewhere along the line I beat the devil
We were caught up in a ring of our own disguises
So I run faster than I thought
And there you call our for me
Will wonders never cease to amaze me?
I pulled you too close
I must learn to let you go
And find my way back to the land of dreams
From the aging dawn there comes a shadow
And from the yellow sand I see my life
Parading aroudn through darkened windows
I was caught up in a ring of my own disguises
So I ran further than I thought
And you can't find me
This is where we contemplate,
Pontificate existing further
Out into the corners of the room
Where we're kept hidden
This is where I speculate, articulate
That I am drifting up, slowly up, slowly up
The lyrics to Casey Stratton's "Violet Room" are imbued with a sense of longing and introspection as the singer reflects on his complicated relationship with someone who remains just out of reach. From the opening line, "From your violet room I see your shadow," we sense that the singer is observing his love interest from a distance, only able to catch glimpses of them through the violet sky or "darkened windows." Despite this distance, he feels a strong pull towards them, reflected in the refrain where they call out for him and he wonders if the "wonders will never cease to amaze."
However, the song is also marked by a sense of frustration and self-awareness as the singer recognizes the ways in which they have been "caught up in a ring of [their] own disguises." The line "I pulled you too close / I must learn to let you go" exemplifies this realization, as the singer acknowledges the ways in which they have been holding on too tightly. The final lines of the song - "This is where I speculate, articulate / That I am drifting up, slowly up, slowly up" - suggest a sense of eagerness to break free from these patterns and move towards greater clarity and self-awareness.
Overall, "Violet Room" is a moving meditation on the complexities of love and the ways in which we can get in our own way when it comes to matters of the heart.
